I am 25 yrs old and I just purchased my first house with my lovely wife about a year ago. Last fall I decided I HATED going in my garage due to the fact that it was SO plain. I stumbled across this forum and fell in love! I decided to get to work on creating something I would love to walk into. The garage was just a plain ol 2 car garage that needed some love. So I started by first drawing it out on paper what I wanted it to look like. Then it was just a simple process from there. I drew out the checker board pattern on the wall and then taped it off and painted it. Then I painted the top half grey. And then painted the base boards black. Here is a link to see what it looked like before. http://truthindetailing.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=4392 The pictures were taken by my friend who owns a professional detailing business and he was hired to do my mothers 350z and he wanted to use my garage. Now I just need to decide on what type of flooring I am going to go with. That is where you all come in. I would like suggestions. I am either going to go with checkered tile, or epoxy. Any help would be welcomed! Thanks!!

You gotta start somewhere...Welcome to the forum.. For the little you got, it looks great...Remember a true GJ'er is never done..It's all about the journey, and it looks like you are on the right track..Personally, I'd go with the epoxy, but check out the flooring section and make a choice based on what you see..

I would vote Grey epoxy or and grey and black checked racedeck. Looks like you are missing a tool box :headscrat

I am missing a tool box. It is hard for me to get approval from the wife on spending for ANYTHING garage related because she doesn't care what it looks like or how functional it is. Maybe I should take away some of her shoes and clothes and tell her that she wouldn't have these things if I had to take the cars to the repair shop everytime something breaks. So I NEED  tools to buy her shoes and clothes!! do you think that would work?? :lol_hitti

That's a great looking garage. I think the checkered floor would look good with what you have done to the walls.

Thanks for the suggestion. I initially wanted to get checkered floor, but now after looking at some epoxy floors.... I am leaning that way more and more. It is more appealing to more people, which will help in resale value later on down the road. Not everyone likes checkered floor.

You gotta show her that your tools mean good things for her. Instead of taking away her shoes, build a shoe rack in the closet so she has room for more. Then, and only then, will she see the value in your tools.

Nice garage btw. Wish mine was that clean, but I do work in mine :bounce:

Absolutely. Think of it this way that $25 ratchet and $75 cordless drill fixes the washer or drier. That saves a $150 service call PLUS she doesn't have to wait around for the repairman.

Here is another pic before the top half was painted grey, and before the base boards were black.

Seeing as our washer just broke after only owning it for 1 1/2 years last month, and I DIDN'T have all the tools needed to fix it.... so guess who had to hang out around the house that day waiting for the repair man?! That's right! My wife did. And she had to write out that check to the guy. I'll have a tool box VERY soon.

I encourage everyone on here to go watch that video.
Pass it along, and share the love. He would love to shine up your 09 for the right price! haha. Let me know if you want me to ask him about it. Of course it all depends on where you are located.
