single car garage air compressor ideas ? anyone make a slim one

gonna roll drag car in and out , car i snot hughe maverick grabber tube chassis car .

looking for a decent air compressor to run air tools only no sand blaster ect .

the slimmer the better

There are a number of folks that have installed them up high where they won't take up room, assuming you won't need to roll it around.

You'd be hard put to find one that isn't round and therefore not slim, though you might take a look at the ones with dual small tanks, etc.

Maybe try and disconnect the motor/pump from the tank and mount the tank in the rafters or even the whole thing in the rafters

In my old house I had a big 80gallon IR compressor and I put it in the attic of the garage , I had about 6 feet of space between the trusses , I took it apart and brought it 1 piece at a time , pain in the but , but it was worth it . Ron

Do you guys bleed the air out of the tank after each use then close up the bleed screw? I do as that's what the user guide says, but if it's in the attic...

Your user's guide says to empty the tank when you're done for the day? That's crazy talk

I empty my compressor tank if I'm repairing it. When I'm done for the day I just turn the power off, shut the output ball valve, and call it a day.

Having it in the attic would make it a PITA to drain water unless you make some sort of allowance such as an auto drain.

This has been the source of discussions before. There is no logical reason to bleed off ALL of the tank pressure each day after use. You are simply using a huge amount of electricity to pump the tank back up each day you use it, and it is not readily available for those little jobs like airing up the tires in your car, or inflating your kids basketball.

Mine is switched off if I'm gone for long periods of time, such as out of town for a couple of days or more. Otherwise it is powered up, pressurized and the tank valve shut off. All I have to do is open the valve and I've got air. I NEVER depressurize the tank unless I need to change out a fitting or something like that. (done that a couple of times recently when adding a fitting for the used oil shop heater to tap off of separate from the main shut off.)

Get a 20 gallon horizontal compressor and mount it under a workbench at the back of your garage.

Horizontal tank and mount it up against the ceiling, or above the ceiling if you can. Ensure the mounting is strong since it will have vibration.
