Small project - I wanted to get my air compressor off the floor. The hose was always getting in my way as well. I was going to mount it on the wall but I was worried about vibration, and I also wanted to maintain portability. The solution was to hang it off the bottom of my cabinet was eye bolts with springs to dampen the vibrations. I then added a HF hose reel. With it mounted this way, it's still completely portable yet still out of the way. When I get a larger compressor in the future, I have room to put it in the same spot.

If anyone is curious about the reel mounting, it is lag screwed into a 1" red oak board, which is then attached to a stud with 4" lag screws.

You've worked wonders , very nice ! A small garage is actually not a bad thing, it will keep you from buying a lot of equipment that you don't have room for and probably don't need anyway . Easier to heat to .

So...I used the HF hose one time and threw it in the garbage for a Flexzilla. At least I was warned by the reviews.

I'm curious what issue you had with the HF hose. I've used my HF reel and hose for a few years now hung previously from the ceiling and now from the side wall like yours with no big issues. Maybe I just got lucky. You never can be sure with HF stuff.

It was inflexible, felt cheap and was covered in that "China oil" that they seen to dump on everything rubber. Plus a lot of the reviews said the hose cracks in short order anyway.

I can see the flexibility complaint. I've used mine as is but it would be nicer if a bit more flexible of casing. Maybe it's the difference in age but mine did not come oily. However I know what you mean as I've seen other China products with that oil residue. So far no cracks or leaks in mine but you give me food for thought about an upgrade someday to a much nicer quality hose.

Do you have anything behind the compressor where it touches the wall? I would think I'd want to thick chunk of foam to keep the wall looking good and cut down on the noise.

Love, love, love this garage. Just read through the whole thing. Everything has a place (without being super OCD) and is clean and functional. Definitely using some ideas for myself.

I realize this thread is a few years old now, but to followup on Randy's post I would love to see the high res photos or anything at all that may help duplicate his folding workbench setup?
