I finally got a sheet of sanded 3/4" plywood for the workbench top. I'd like to poly it still...

Wow. Not only does it all fit, you have lots of wiggle room from what I can tell. Yours has been one of my favorite projects to follow. A few finishing touches still ahead?

Thanks Rick. I still have a lot more plans once I get some spare cash. Such as task lighting above workbench, more cabinets for motorcycle gear, and id really like to get some diamond plate aluminum shelving. Ill find some pics of what I'd like... Be right back.

just read through this whole garage build, really inspiring. Waiting on my broken hand to heal so I can get started. Keep it up!

I've thought about maybe just painting it black.

I'm not sure the price of the diamond plate piece but Gladiator Garage works makes a comparable piece that should be available at your local Lowe's store. I've attached a link to the US site.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_319362-46-G...goriesDisplayView&storeId=10151&storeId=10151

I looked at one of these and they seem very durable.
A friend of a friend of mine has access to a bunch of scrap diamond plate, so I gave him some pictures of what I'd like. We will see what happens.

Awesome transformation! :rocker:
I'm in the early stages of remodeling my one car garage and I hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Thanks a lot! Start a thread and post lots of pictures! I got most of my ideas from everyone's comments and suggestions in this thread and others.

(With a "kid in candy store look on my face") Hummmm so what is the source and price of the diamond plate shelf/towel holder? I will bet it is higher than a crack head with a fresh supply of meth!

Wow tons of room of room for a single! Looks fantastic.
Thanks buddy
Yes it is wide, really noticeable since your Jeep is in there. What are the dimensions?
11' 6"x 21' 8"

There's several companies out there that make these types of products for enclosed race trailers such as:

Also, search "diamond plate shelving" or something similar on EBay.

I would not be showing that vise on Garage Journal. Some of the members will use Mossad or CIA intelligence and FIND you. If your lucky they won't do you any bodily harm UNLESS you will not agree to release the vise. Forget gold and it's up and down prices. Sitting on your bench is MORE than gold to us guys!!! Forget the stock market. HEY!! YOU got a SNAP-ON vise IN your possession. I would check my insurance and especially the locks and security on your doors. And, your very clever----"I got this OLD vise" HA HA "Old Vise". Still, watch your back guy!! AND CONGRATULATIONS ON THE VISE!!!!

So, are you guys saying its kinda rare? Its a 1760 manufactured in July of 1983. I figured it was just a Wilton with Snap-On plates. If any body knows the details, I'd love to hear them.
My fiances dad gave me the vise among some other goodies. He is trying to clean his garage out some. He said he would rather me have it than just have the stuff sitting in there being unused and neglected. This was todays haul, bolt cutters, craftsman glue gun, radiator tester, nuts and bolts, hack saw, bunch and electrical stuff, etc. More to come after we get deeper into his garage. He is somewhat of a hoarder.

Pretty neat little hack saw, it says Snap-On on it too. Whatever that is... :headscrat:badteeth:

A Snap-On hacksaw. Now this thread is getting serious. I am beginning to quiver every time I log on here. A ******** SNAP ON HACKSAW on top of getting the vise "given" to you.
Is it YOUR day or what? Next thing we know someone will drive by your house and a SNAP-ON tool chest will fall off their truck and land in your driveway!!!

Keep it red, you can have to much of 1 colour (blue) great find though buddy :)

Derrick,
I think I'm with Andy on possibly being too monochromatic if you paint it blue.

But I'd suggest going with a nice matching gray and polish up the jaws and handle.

While you're at it? Since your garage is so anally perfect, I'd definitely polish up the hack saw. Put some metal polish on a long strip of terry cloth and it oughta polish nicely. It'll look great hanging on your pegboard.

Your FIL must think that you are an OK guy; he gave you his daughter AND his SO vise! lol
Yeah, we get along pretty well. We work together and live about a mile apart. Plus, the guy has 5 daughters and I'm the only guy that's really "in" with the family.

Yall have a good point. It will be staying red.
Looks rusty. I'd throw it away.

Great looking garage!

Any more information on the garage door insulation? How did you install it?

Thanks

I just cut it up into pieces that fit inside of each panel frame, then went around each section with aluminum tape.

Good on the shiny wrenches too!! I have now decided you have enough Snap On to justify your going out and buy a NEW Snap On Tool Chest. I am sure your vise, hack saw, and wrenches are going to start having offspring soon.

Just went over this entire thread again (last time was when I joined), man what an improvement from the wood paneling and rickety racks.
