Single car garage revamp

I love that you took photos of this start to finish. If this were my project someday I'd create some kind of photo collage or something to show off how much work you did. A bunch of 4x6's or something somewhere people can see. I even considered doing this under acrylic on a workbench or something? Just a thought - this is a great project!

And very nice bike...I had a 954RR back in what seems like a lifetime ago....before wife, kids. ha.

I insulated my garage doors with 4 x 8 sheets of mylar-faced styro. Cut it to just fit in the sections and added a dab of construction adhesive to hold it in place.

Funny you should say this - I actually suspended my 954 (and a 600F4i before that) from my old garage ceiling. I bought a cheapo winch from Harbor Freight and presto - instant floor space gain. I used straps around the bars in the front and the subframe in back and it balanced perfectly. I attached the winch to a 10' long 1" piece of conduit in the attic space above the garage. I'd bring it right up to the ceiling and I could park a car under it. Best <$100 project ever...at least back then. Ha.

Hang your mini in one corner and the R1 in the other corner!

Thats would be something to see! Thats a good idea with the conduit. Ive been thinking about using the hooks that screw into the rafters that are used for hanging bicycles. Attach a couple pulleys and cables. Its just a thought right now.

Dude I love the transformation! I am personally a huge advocate of drywall over paneling or anything for that matter. A lot of guys will point out that it adds to the fireproofing. I just like how clean it makes everything look! Racedeck shouldn't cost you that much but definitely may suite you better looking at the cracks in your slab. Since you have a single stall I would suggest taking a look at some other threads to get an idea for storage. You will be surprised to find ingenious ways to organize things! Good luck and keep those updates flowin'!

Thanks for the kind words. Racedeck will run me around $725.00 give or take. But it is in the plans. Ive been spending ALOT of time on here looking at other single car garages. Eventually im gonna copy this guys shelving.

It's about the same as your used to be (ok, it's still post move-in-storage). Mine is detached, single car, and covered in OSB, which is crumbling in a few spots. Well, I finally got around to put on some high gloss ultra bright white paint on the ceiling and part way down the walls. Hopefully the next set of pictures I post are of some gray paint on the bottom of the walls and a nice stripe of blue in between. Eventually I'll get around to putting some sort of crown molding type trim where the walls meet the ceilings.

Thanks cowboy, and yes I do. The flexible duct has a hole in it that my three year old punch in it with a screwdriver.

Finally got some paint on.

I had some paint mixed up to match Racedecks "Alloy" color. Maybe someday I'll get around to buying a Racedeck floor in the Alloy and Black 18" tiles.

That looks TRULY nice, congratulations. BUUUT...my OCD is barking over that brown door right in the middle of that beautiful redo. How about matching it to the three colors so it blends in, OR paint it all the blue color?

Since you have a single car garage, how about one of those gray rubber floor mats until you can afford to spring for the Racedeck you want? It'd really finish off the space.

I agree, the door definetly needs painted. The old lady doesnt think it look very good if I painted it exactly like the walls, so I'm thinking about painting it all silver like the lower portion of the walls.
As far as those mats go... They look awesome but, damn the are not cheap either!

I'd like to build a workbench in the corner between the steps and the wall with the dryer vent going out of it. Then, I'd like the build overhead shelves going the perimeter of the space. Also, suspend my little mini bike from the ceiling in the corner somewhere.

Looks great,the blue realy works! Do yourself a favor and loose the extension cord for the freezer. My buddy the retired fire cheif, lost his garage, 2 vehicals and half the house, do to an overheated extension cord for a freezer. He said he new better, also said he should have had a smoke detector in the garage. They were sleeping at far end of the home, when it started.

I had a couple cheap laminated cabinet doors I slapped on there until I get me a nice sheet of sanded plywood. It will work fine for now. Its nothing fancy, but it sure is convienient. maybe someday after the playwood goes on, I'll paint it or stain it. Then hang a peg board behind it with a light above it.

Going with white would be too bland, and silver (or gray) to match the rest of the garage would blend too much. Not boring exactly, but just lacking excitement. Blue would pop. Painting gray/blue/white to match the walls would make the door completely disappear (not good, IMO). You should also paint the trim on the window to match the door, whatever color you decide upon. Would be a good opportunity to make sure that it's insulated, while you're at it. Do it right the first time, right?

Now - what about those steps leading up to the door?

Im now leaning towards painting it and the window trim blue. I bought a whole gallon of the stuff and only used a little bit on the stripe. As for the steps, I think I'll paint them gray. Thanks

Another cheap suggestion on the floor (until you get your Racedeck, that is)... what about renting a power washer to get all the dirt, grime, and maybe some of the paint splotches up? Just be careful not to hit the newly painted gray trim.
