Incase yall were wondering how the Mini Trail turned out, here she is. I ran out of money so the front fender and headlight will have to wait awhile. The engine rebuild ended up costing a lot more than I had anticipated.

An excellent thread,, Thanks for showing the start to finish..

Hey thanks. I found that sharing progress helps motivation. But more importantly, there's so many great suggestions or ideas from other forum members. That's what makes this place awesome.

Best year of the R1 and in the fastest color. Could be biased though, I have the same bike. Except mine has a bit more mods on it. Might have to steal your color scheme down the road.

You've got a great looking space there! Love seeing your little guy helping you out. My son is 2 1/2 right now and loves being out in the shop with me... although he just runs around and gets into everything he shouldn't.

Thanks buddy. What a great age! My boy is 5 now and he's still doing that. I guess it never really stops.

Love the build, the Honda and that you did the work yourself and with your son. My son and I spend lots of "quality time" in the garage just talking and, for a teenage boy, it's priceless time for me.

One area that I am working on in my space that seems to be of need in yours would be the header above the garage door. I've been drooling over 55cadking's ideas (his post # 892) about squaring off the area with simple 2X4 and then painting a contrasting color to hid the door track grease that seems to build up in that area. I think yours would look great with a similar finish.

Keep up the great work and photo sharing.

Thanks for the compliments. Sounds like you and your son have a great relationship. Can't beat that. As for Ricks garage, that is a great idea. One of many! Lol. I might have to look into doing something similar. Thanks.

Fantastic looking garage you have. Just skimmed threw and read where I seen pictures.

Way to transform a dull space into something unique to you. The attention to detail is spot on.

Props to you, keep up the great work. The mini bike looks great!

I'm with Sean on this one! Took me two days, but who's counting? Did you ever get around to the finishing touches on the Honda bike (fender, etc)?

Cheers,

I just purchased my first house and I was bummed that the it only had a one car garage, but after reading this whole thread it has been an inspiration.

Unfortunately this is where my yami spends its winter months in PA right now.

Thanks Sean. There hasn't really been any good updates made. But I'll round up some new pics.

I did manage to buy a new front fender. :) But, that's about it.

More pics...

Not a whole lot has changed lately.

Hanging out, watching a movie.

They were gonna toss this aluminum shelf at work. I said, "I'll take that, thank you". SCORE!

This most dramatic improvement to the garage has been this beauty.

I had to do the ole tennis ball on a string trick to tell me how far I can pull in so I can still walk in front of and behind the car. I never really parked my last vehicle in here because it leaked oil and frankly wasn't that nice. Lol.

I kinda skipped a couple pages, but followed the transformation, and what a difference! That's truly a real before and after change! There's a lot of great organization ideas, your hardly even notice the motorcycles, they're so well placed.

Looking at the last photo with the sleek Cadillac, it almost looks as if there could be enough room to utilize a four post lift, after relocating the door rails, and opener. Wouldn't that be something! A potential single bay, capable of storing two vehicles, a couple motorcycles, and yet a good size work station!

Thanks for sharing!

Hey Derrick-my husband found your garage online and he wants to do ours exactly like yours except for the flooring. Do you know what brand and colors you used so we can go buy our paint? Yours looks awesome! Thanks! Tricia from California.

Thx for Bumping this thread speed.

Great job on the Garage Derrick!
From the walls, bench, floor, vice, and the bike!
Thx for documenting and sharing. Probably funny to see your son now...
Garage still looks the same, but he’s grown up some over 7 years!
