Ainsley: good to see you making another post. i bet you are busy with a couple little ones and trying to get stuff done. any chance you can post up a few pictures of your trailer you built cause i can't recall seeing any of it finished?

also wanted to tell you about the new WOODWORKING 101 thread that you might enjoy. lots of GJ members have some woodworking skills and i thought it would be a great idea to have some sort of thread here for us to learn teach and show off our skills.

since you have some skills and probably want to learn a few more i figured you might like to know about it. link is in my sig line.

best of luck with the family and hopefully you can keep teaching the kids a few skills as you keep making and fixing stuff.

cheers

Thanks for keeping tabs on me. I'll see what I have for finished photos of the trailer. My buddy is borrowing it at the moment as he just bought a new house and will be renovating for a few months.

Latest addition to the tool crib: Lineup of Stabila Levels.

Ainsley: happy to hear you are doing ok with both those little ones and your garage seems to be always improving too.

post up pictures of your finished trailer when you can and I always like to hear what a member would have liked to do different if they were to make another one so post a few comments if you would too even if you are perfectly happy. sounds like it's a user even if not for you this month.

cheers and happy holidays

Topped my steveo style bench in some ply over the last week. 2 layers of 3/4" with G1S on top. biscuit jointed the ends and glued it all together.
Got some coats of poly on it last night and this morning.

I'm planning on topping it with stainless eventually if i can stitch enough scraps together from work.

Ainsley: i love the trailer and all the cool additions you put on it especially the hand crank winch with 3 different levels to put the strap.

your bench top looks great as is, but if you can find some stainless then you have my vote to use it on top of that plywood.

i really like all your ORGANIZING in your shop and you've got some great ideas if somebody were to take the time to look and see them all just in that one picture.

i know you are pretty busy with i think a 4 and 1 year old and hoping the kids and you and your bride are surviving and that everyone's healthy.

cheers and if you have time to post on other threads i hope to see more as you have time to.

I would like to know more about this bench top. I have a steve o inspired work bench planned and having trouble finding a 24" wide x 10' long Oak wood top.

How long is that bench top?

My bench top is 10' long x 24" wide. I used a full sheet of 3/4" G1S plus another half sheet of standard 3/4" ply. Two layers with staggered seams, and seams are biscuit jointed.

I was also contemplating doing a laminated maple top (butcher block) but never could find the time to get to my buddy's shop who has the jointer and drum sander I would need.

Hey Ainsley - I am just stopping by to see how things are going. I had someone post on my YouTube channel about a rotting wall problem they wanted to fix. I sent them your way.

I forgot how much I stole from you throughout my build.... the lifting process, the shelving, the drill storage, the dust deputy... it just goes on and on. Some things I forgot I even learned here!

My shop is 98% complete now and I can tell I will soon be getting in to welding and learning from you even more. Keep up the good work. (you've also inspired me to get down to Lee Valley again)

Thanks for stopping in JohnnieMo, its been a while! I'm glad i was able to inspire some of your designs for the shop.

I've been doing some woodworking projects in the shop. A trellis we're growing Hops up and a table base for my boss, he put a thick piece of glass on top.

That is great looking stuff. I'd love to get deeper in to woodworking. I used to do a lot with my dad as a kid, but lately I've been more into automotive (and shop building).

My wife started a furniture restoration business, and I'm hoping that justifies me buying more woodworking tools from Lee Valley. :)

Got a chance to poke around with some projects in the shop i've been thinking over for quite some time.

Dust hood for my mitre saw cart. I'm going to run a 5" blast gate and hose to it. It will also be on slides for storage so I gain about 6-9" of clearance on the back in the retracted position

Added a 3phase motor and VFD to my drill press

Also been tweaking my compact tool belt. I also have a big electrician's Kuny belt but its super bulky and I hate it.

hope your little family is growing up nicely and your shop is looking great as per usual.

Finished a custom bookshelf for a customer a few weeks ago. 8' tall and almost 9' wide.
3/4" Oak veneer plywood with solid oak edging and trim. Took about 60 hours.

Recently finished off my Mitre saw cart. I've had intentions of making the support wings since I built the thing 6+ years ago.

I couldn't figure out how to post this Video in the body of the post but here is the link to imgur:

I've been working on doing some "automation" on my dust collection system. Step one is to actuate the gate valves, This is just a test, i'm going to put a delay-off timer and also trigger the dust collector to turn on.

This was such a good read. I see how well you used your space and feel like I’m wasting so much of mine. Sometimes after seeing someone’s ideas, I wish I could just have them come to my place and set up my stuff for me...lol. Looking forward to seeing what the next project is!

Ainsley, that saw blade storage is perfect. I definitely need to build something similar.
The plane drawer looks amazing, but I’d pull two planes out and then spend 25 minutes trying to figure out how to get them back in.

Been working on bowls lately on the lathe. This is as big as I can go on my beaver 3400.
Piece of cherry I got from a buddy who owns orchards.
