I am not a big fan of the "speckled" salt and pepper look that most flake combinations have. I understand you can create your own flake combinations but before i go with a single color flake or multi-color that are similar shades I was looking for opinions on how it looks or thoughts on it. I am having a hard time finding example pictures. I am thinking of doing a darker grey full flake. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I really discourage solid color flake applications. I understand the thinking and in theory it makes sense but in the real world it almost always ends in disappointment. Tough to explain why but I think it has to do with the overall texture, you will get patches of flake that lay down nice and flat mixed with patches where there is a lot of flake "tombstoning" (standing on edge) so the result appears blotchy and uneven. If you want a solid color floor go with a solid color floor... IMG_1304.jpeg

You can get some ideas here:

Epoxy Flake Colors . If you go with just a plain epoxy color with a Poly top, you might want to throw some shark grip in it. These floors can get pretty slick.

Providing an update here. I am going with Torginol Wild Dove FB-911. I have a contractor to do the job and going with Polyurea with a polyaspartic top coat. I plan to provide a separate post with details and pictures of how my experience was. I have been planning this project for years and this site and the experts have been invaluable. Thank you!

They will grind. I am having them fill in the contraction joints (they aren't warranting that). I like the cleaner look and am ok with it if it ends up cracking down the line. I am also filling the outside expansion joints with AMP Advanced Modified Polymer Self -Leveling Concrete and Masonry Sealant. They are going to coat over that as well (yes, i have heard it will crack as well). Still better in my opinion than the crappy looking fiber board.

Single-color full flake is a great application. We have also had a handful of customers do two close gray colors to give a little variation without the speckled look.

Justin, do you have any pictures of the single color applications or the close gray color applications. My contractor is putting together a board with samples for Wild Dove and a few other similar flakes but I am still interested in the full flake single color if i can find some examples. Thanks!
