I just ordered an Advantage DX-9000 HD lift for my shop today. It is going to be used to store a ‘67 GTO (top) and ‘70 Trans Am. Total cost including tax and installation was about $4600. I ‘need’ another lift for my garage. I just had a high-lift garage door installed. I was thinking about just ordering another Advantage lift and calling it a day, but I really like the way the American Custom Lift M-1 single-column lift looks. Of course, that lift is significantly more expensive (I don’t have an exact price but I think they are around $6500). The fellow I talked to from Advantage (they are also doing the installation) said the installation costs for the single-column were also going to be higher than the 4-post.

Does anyone have any real pricing info on the ACL lift, and am I crazy for even considering one of these when I could just order a second Advantage 4-post for another $3500.

I saw one reference in the past for something like $8k installed. Not sure how accurate or current that is.

As many have said on this forum, the type of lift you get should depend entirely on what you intend to use it for. It shouldn't be a question of money as the cost difference between lift types spread over the many years you will use the lift is not significant. There are distinct advantages to each type and only you can decide which one suits your long term needs.
