single phase to three phase inverter

I have a Mitsubishi FR-E520-0.1K to 7.5K-NA transistorized inverter. I want to run an old Southbend 13" lathe off single phase 240V power. I know some of the Mitsi I have used in the past could do the 1 to 3 change. The one I have is an old used one and doesn't indicate that it can be wired single phase. Should I try it? If so, which two terminals might I try? What could possibly go wrong--go wrong--go wrong?

Enter the catalog number into a search engine & you may find a manual, that will be needed to set the parameters, & find out if it can accept single phase input.

What country are u in?

According to the manual thats a 3ph 200v class unit.

However, if u read pg 228 of the document/ pg 238 on the PDF u will see that the specifications for the OPs model calls for 3-phase power input 200v-240v.

This manual is for both the single phase models and the 3-phase models.

The OPs unit is 3-phase input ONLY!

That is correct For the E520, for the 1Φ model it would be E520S.

On some units there's a parameter to disable phase loss detection of the input. This one appears to have it only on the output, P251.

It may still function on 1Φ input at reduced capacity due to the diodes and caps not being rated for 1Φ input.

Won't know until you try, worst can happen is not work or fault on phase loss. The model given was for the range of sizes, not a particular output size. If the unit is larger than his needs it may work.

Up to the OP if he wants to try, doesn't seem like theirs much to loose.
