Greetings all--

Getting ready to improve things in the garage.
The main component that the garage will be rearranged around is a car lift.
I definitely need a single post lift.

I have found a few that are suitable... but I don't want suitable.

Any and all information would be most appreciated!

Thank you.

american custom lifts makes some of the best units in the industry. Be prepared to drop nearly 10k when it comes to purchase, freight, and install. If you work on cars alot its not the best choice so just keep that in mind.

Why aren't they suitable for working on cars?

Unfortunately, Rotary doesn't make a single-post lift and that's really what I need... unless I find something AMAZING in the two-post variety. The wife is not interested in the gymnastics required to get around a post that would populate the middle of the garage AND I don't want to hear about the gymnastics involved.

I'd check out a maxjax or something similar if I were you. The post stores easily. against the wall.

How are you going to park a car under a single post lift?

You are thinking of the old style in floor hydraulic single post lifts. There are now single post above ground lifts. The post is on one side. You drive over the legs and baseplate to get the car on. Atlas and Bendpack among others make them. Some are even portable on wheels.

T_R that was exactly what I was thinking, and I don't think I'm alone on that. But in my defense the OP has been giving details of what he wants in aggravating drips and dribbles. Even makes statements that contradict themselves. Like in the first post "I found some that are suitable....but I don't want suitable". Then what is it you want? If he is thinking of the new style single post lifts, he would not say it would require gymnastics to park. He would just drive under the car that is on the lift. Obviously I'm not understanding a lot of what's being said so I'll move on. I hope dr kanga can find what he needs.

Ever thought about how you open your doors on a single or two post lift... if money isn't an issue I would let a four post be made on demand. Put the four posts in a corner or again st wall you won't lose space can safety park 2 cars and are still able to park a second car under it. Which in my opinion is only advised for long term storage... it could give you headaches... also when going for 4 post or any, consider buying some beams to block from decending unwillingly

If you want to open doors look at asymetrical 2 post lifts. I have a 40 yr old Hoffman lift from Germany. It is a 2 post and bolts to the concrete floor with steel H frame. It allows full access to underneath the car to work on exhaust systems, drop subframes, pull transmissions etc. You have to think about what you have in mind for your lift decision.
