Talking the single to the side style for over/under, not the single hydraulic like you see in old service shops.

How do you like it? Which model do you have?

Thanks.

single posts work great for rotating tires but get in the way for rwd clutch/trans jobs better off with a 2 post no giant and deep hole to have drilled in your floor

I believe that he is looking for one like this, not the old gas station lift type.

This..

I have both 2 post and 1 post lifts..

The only time a value the 1 post more than the 2 post is when im doing bodywork. Fenders, panels, doors etc is free to cut grind weld etc.. Of course, this is not the case for when it's time to do the flooring.

Also, low cars, or cars with hanging exhaust og long tubes headders can be a pain to park on it.. I use long wooden boards for our custumors with low cars.

The offset 1 post lift i can not see any advantage of having over a regular 1 post lift either.

Right, I am talking the single post off to the side. Not really the mobile/pallet jack looking lift above, though.

I am thinking about it from a space utilization perspective. Takes up less space than a 4-post and has likely the same versatility in most cases. Work would be whatever I can do with it, and also as storage (over-under).

Might do a max jack two post for underneath work that requires clearance.

Just thinking about the options. Did not run across the single-to-the-side lift until recently.

The thing is... I've completely modified/rebuilt the Dart back to front and top to bottom with a floor jack and jack stands. I do all my daily driver maintenance, etc. A two post would be good in some cases, a 4 post in others, maybe this single lift splits the difference?

I Seen a few of these lifts at a junkyard once. I asked the owner about them. He said they were for dismantling vehicles. They didn't lift the vehicle in a very "pretty spot" and crushed the exhaust usually on the arms since they extended under the entire vehicle. He moved vehicles to the lifts with his fork lift and removed them with a forklift.

He told me he hated them but got a steal of a deal from a distributor going out of business.
