Hello, This is my first Thread/Post. I have been thinking of getting lift so I'm just starting to do home work on project. Project won't start to spring as were going to be in to the crappy weather season soon. First I will be replacing concrete floor as it's not in great shape now and this will allow me to get correct depth for which ever lift I get. My garage is a 2 car garage with steps coming from house into garage. Ceiling is 10'4 and will most likely need to be raised, attic above so should be do able. Thinking Single Post lift would be best for my situation. My problem is I need a lift that will give me 75 inches of clearance under lift for my pick up to be parked under lift and still have room for wife's Acadia parked next to pickup. So that's why I'm thinking 2 or 4 post won't work. Right now with out a lift I only have about 4-6 inches between either two vehicles parked next to each other in garage. The lift that I'm considering is American Custom Mi - 6.5 . Lift to be used mainly for winter storage , detailing and maintenance work. Any thoughts or suggestions on project or lift welcome.Dave:beer:

Those single post lifts look sketchy as ****. If your main use is for storage, I would get a 4 post. A 4 post with trolley jacks will allow you to do all maintenance to your vehicle as well. Once you decide on a lift you can get with the manufacturer and they will give you the recommended concrete specs and mounting specs.

I have a single post lift by www.geminilifts.com from Texas.
This lift has been in place for 7 years, not one issue for failure or problem.
The cars it carries are sports cars, so weight is not a big issue.
Check out my thread 'My tandem garage' on Garage Gallery.
It address some of the questions asked. Also, under 'Show off your lifts' has some good information.

Why suggest a four post when the OP said a four post is too wide for his garage to park side by side?

This post is not moveable It's permanently bolted down with 10 bolts. Seems solid and will be checking further. A 4 post will not give me the room I need unless I don't have things thought out right!

Since that lift is advertised as a parking lift I'm not sure how much maintenance work can be done using it other than oil changes. I guess that is one of your questions to the manufacturer.

Thanks for info I will check out your thread and other you mentioned. What lift did choose. Looking to store Corvette so weight should not be a problem. Dave

From what I have seen and read the center panels can be removed to allow more access or installed to prevent dripping etc on vehicle below. That was one of my question in email that was mentioned above. I can turn a wrench but not a mechanic so it would be for storage , detailing ,oil changes like you mentioned. Dave

356vintage you have a beautiful garage ! Thanks for giving me info on other threads. I was able to get some other manufacture brands of single post that were purchased by others and gives me more lift options to look into. Dave
