2200 sq ft basement
500 sq ft above grade slab
1300 sq ft garage
2400 sq ft shop (150-200 ft away)

Can a single closed loop ground source heat pump system be used for this or would at a minimum the shop require it's own setup?

A single well, or pond, or buried loop, or any other adequate heat transfer source could indeed serve several water-source heat pumps.

If you are asking if a single air handler/indoor unit could serve both buildings, the answer is no. Not practical.

Any such system would start with a proper load calc for both buildings.

As always, offered only as opinion
