Sister lives in Russia...tools.

My sister lives and works in St Petersburg, and travels frequently through Scandanavia, Eastern Europe and Germany.

She's offered to pick me up some tools, and I'm looking for suggestions. I've ordered German screwdrivers online, some Bahco stuff. I'd have her pick me up some doubles if it's any cheaper but I don't know if it is.

I also thought it would be cool to have some more obscure stuff brought back, so I'm taking advice on quality new tools from those regions, as well as any older brands, Soviet or otherwise that she should be on the lookout for.

I wouldn't think that you'd be getting a better deal over there...When I travel to Europe I try to bring every possible thing that I will need, as products are much more expensive over there....I paid $25 for a towel in europe that would have been $4 in walmart..(As I was packing a towel for the trip, my wife stopped me and said that she would pack all the towels in her bag..After a few days of bathing (no shower where we stayed) and drying with a dish towel, I broke down and spent the $25.)

I'd like to have some old soviet era tools. I'm surprised how few mentions there are of such tools. The Red Army had a bazillion tanks, surely they had to be fixed once in a while.

I'll bet you'd have to be a hard-core russian flea market scrounger to find some of that stuff now.
