Site Slow

Is it just me or is the site really slow today?

Its taking forever for the threads to come up...

Slow as a turtle, on every browser on every network I am on. This has been consistent for at least the last three days.

It's like there is alot of traffic at 5 o clock, then later on nothing.

Same here .. I thought it was the wireless connection so I switched to an ethernet hard line .. no difference.

Gah!! This is driving me crazy!! The pages are taking as long as 35 seconds to load ... that's forever on the internet!! Every time we get up over 500 current users, the GJ server can't keep up.

It was happening to me at work last night also. I thought it was the server at work. But its going on here at the house too.
Takes what seems like forever to load a page or just to page through posts.

I was just going to start the same thtead but while waiting for it to load I found yours.

The site has been getting slower every day. It has just been very bad lately. It could be traffic, a server problem, bandwidth problems, rootkit, virus, database size, etc.

The incredible amount of quoting that goes on here because of no real time limit on editing posts swells a database rapidly. Most large sites limit editing to 5 minutes or so and also do not send out post notices until after the time has expired to reduce server load. Storing a copy of a persons sig in every post also swells the database. When a site grows limits are required.

Thanks, Ryan. And for the record, I at least am not complaining; I was just relating that it is also slow for me tonight. The value I get from the site is pretty unbelievable when you consider the price I pay for it
