My first post here on the forum, lots of great info! I have some questions though. I am looking to build a 30'x30'x12' pole building garage with a concrete floor. A friend of mine came out with a transit and it looks like my site is sloped downhill about 4-5' from back to front. I know a couple people with mini excavators and skid steers. Is it possible to rough level the site with those 2 tools? I think I can call them in as cheap favors. I also have a few 2' stumps to remove as well, could they be any help with that as well?

Thank you,
Ryan

The mini should be able to dig out the stumps.the bobcat should be able to place the fill.

Should be fine, hell with enough time you could do it with a DR towable trencher.

My mini was actualy bought new by a guy who got it just to build his own pole barn. That was back in 1990. He also got an auger attachment for it that i have. Its a very nice tool to have.

I know there is a slope. The concrete guy wanted to check the actual number so I had a real number to reference. I'll maybe see what kind of favors I can pull to make something happen. My concrete guy shot me $15,000 to do a foundation. Just seeing if I can reduce the cost some if possible.

For a five foot drop if he is going to excavate and fill that’s not a bad price. My guy did that with a mini excavator on my 30x36 six inch thick 4k Alaskan slab. I only had two feet that needed to be removed and filled.
Note....my slab is awesome because he was en experienced operator and compacted the **** out of the fill. Just having someone that can run a machine isn’t enough. They need to know how to prep the soil and not make a mess digging up undisturbed soil

They need to strip the organic, get down to suitable material, bring in or use suitable fill material...compact to 95% or so...with lifts and the proper water/moisture content...then bring in base rock and pour...

The quote, if done correctly, seems about the right order of magnitude.
