I asked in a previous thread about buying sk from Epstein's. How about amazon? Are they selling all new stock? I was told to avoid amazon due to them shipping you items that were returned or having a bunch of old stock.

I wouldnt recommend it tbh. Only SK thing I bought from Amazon that I couldnt complain about was the 1/4" MM/SAE set. Virtually every other order from there had atleast (1) return-resell tool mixed in. I dont buy SK from there anymore.

I bought my SK 3/8" & 1/4" sets (that I posted pictures of in your last thread) on eBay through Arctic-Tools & Tooltopia. Best prices I found on new sets, and they were actually new and sealed, no old stock or returns.

Given their return policy, I wouldn't worry about it. They really are good about that.

The only problem I would have with ordering this stuff is that the prices are 2x what they were when I ordered few SK sets. They used to be a smoking deal, not so much now.

Were the socket sets wrapped in plastic or in cardboard sleeve? I bought a set from amazon awhile ago and it didn't seem right

There aren't any SK dealers near me so I have to go the online route. For the price of the tools, I want to make sure everything is proper. SK really seems to have stepped it up however there seems to still be some pre ideal stock being passed off as new

I know both had cardboard sleeves. I'm pretty sure they were both shrink wrapped as well...:headscrat

OK thanks. The set I bought from amazon was just shrink wrapped, no cardboard sleeve. I want to buy some more sockets and wrenches, just don't know who the best vendor is. Amazon seems to have the best prices

I don't believe that Amazon sells returned items as new - that is what the Amazon Warehouse is for.

I have purchased a 1/4 socket set, a 3/8" socket set and two wrench sets. They were all sparkly brand new - I would not expect anything else.

I've never understood how amazon works. You can buy anything from there. I know there are third party sellers on there, but does amazon buy direct from manufacturer or what? I always thought they just had liquidation and sold knock offs. I guess not. The socket set I got from there was definitely used but sold as new

They have a few times to me. One time, I had ordered a name brand 15" adjustable wrench, received some Chinese pos that someone else had sent back. I returned it and they sent the exact same wrench back to me a week later. Just recently, I bought a set of Proto USA impact sockets, and received a set of Chinese Stanley stuffed into a proto box. I am certain they do sell returns as new from time to time. Luckily it is pretty painless to get a replacement or a refund.

Yeah, i know what the warehouse deals are and have never ordered anything from there. Sold and shipped by Amazon or 3rd party vendors.

Also, Amazons customer service dips when you dont spend as much money, and their customer service is starting to slip. Search my post history, I used to brag on Amazon all the time here. Customer service is still good but is half of what it used to be, and as another poster said it kinda started with outsourcing CS reps to Asia. The only thing that pisses me off more than not being able to understand a single word the rep says is waiting for a refund that Hajar never punched through, or being told not to worry about shipping the return t-shirt back only to have them deduct the cost of it out of your account again 3 months later. **** like that has happened to me atleast 3 times over the last month. I know i cant be the only one too. Oh yea, having to pay $6 return shipping on an order that they screwed up when i paid for overnight shipping pisses me off as well, thats complete ********. I made their rep on amazon chat listen to me for over 2 hours when they pulled that ****, i got my $6 back via moral victory points

The thing with amazon is that if it's not sold by or at least fulfilled by Amazon then you are stuck with the seller's terms and conditions.

This means returns you have to pay shipping, etc

Now I try to only buy from Amazon or Fulfilled by Amazon.

You see, then they shouldnt count those vendors as Amazon Prime, when you pay for a service it should be consistent. I spent ~$13k in tools alone in 2014, Amazon was amazing. No other company could touch their service, with the exception of Costco.
Cant say that so much anymore. After a while you guys will start getting in mix-n-match wrench sets, send them back, and only find yourselves doing it again and again and again. **** gets old after a while.

I always prefer to deal with Amazon as the vendor - but you are right that not all Prime products are sold by Amazon

This can be good or bad since Amazon charges me sales tax to S Cal, I can save some money if it is still Prime but from a 3rd party

I would never pay for return shipping if the product was defective or not as advertised - including 3rd party sales.

I only deal with Amazon via live chat. If I have any problems what so ever during the first 30 days - it is either going back for a replacement or refund. If it is a problem I can live with, live chat will usually get me 20% off
