So I saw on our amazing deal thread that the SK 1/2 Flex ratchet was on blow out sale for $16 and some change. I ordered 2 on 12/1 while I sat and watched everyone post problems after placing the orders.... Same thing happened to me. "Sorry we dont have anymore" is the answer I got. I kept my cool throughout most of the back and forth conversations I had with the 800 number. The whole time my order on their website said will ship 12/14 backorder.

Finally someone posted a thread stating all you need to do is call up and ask for an un-cancellation. Well here we go, I called up explained I would like my order to be shipped seeing how my history STILL shows, for close to a month, the item is on back order while the site says ships today.

I knew if this deal never went through I couldn't be upset over missing such a great deal but the way it was handled was sub par. So the call pays off and they are going to send out my 2 ratchets. I waited patiently for the order to come in today... I saw the UPS truck pull up at my work and couldn't wait to tear that box open. I was finishing up a truck while the shipping guy signed for the package sitting on the floor. The driver jumped in the truck while I asked him to throw it on my desk for me. When he did a ratchet handle comes sliding out of the box.... I finished up the truck pulled it around and went to my office.......Only 1 ratchet.... I called up grainger and explained the situation and they were more than willing to fix the problem. I would have settled for a reimbursement for the missing ratchet but I planned to post one here at cost for anyone who didn't get one. They will be sending out another one and should receive it in a week. I guess we will see.

There is a few small dings in the ratchets from sliding around in a box together for some time. Its a tool, I'm going to use it, so I'm no overly concerned especially for the price. As long as knurling wasn't smashed Im ok with it.

Wow, what a pack job!

What did the packing slip say? 1 or 2?

If you look at the second pic there is a sticker on the bottom of the box with graingers part number for the ratchet and it says X 2 The packing/order slip also states X 2

When I ordered mine there was no record of a pending order. Apparently my account had not yet been registered so the order number had no account associated with it. When I read about all the problems with cancellations and back orders and the price going back up I shot their customer service an email asking what the status was. They replied that it was back ordered and would ship sometime in late January. Then I saw the posting about calling up and getting it uncanceled. I was a little put off by the fact that they didn't simply do that automatically once they got them in stock. So I called and a very nice lady helped me and told me mine would be shipping from Elmsford, NY the very next day. Two days later it arrived, in a box way, way too big for a single ratchet, which was laying loose under about 25 of those air-filled packing bags. Overall I wasn't please with the operation, and if it had been an item I really needed and paid normal price for I'd have been absolutely irate. I've already dealt with some truly useless counter personnel at their brick-and-mortar stores in the past, so I was hoping the internet experience would be better. But I'm super-happy with my new ratchet and wish I'd ordered 10 of them.

I was lucky with the packaging on mine, no handles poking through the box. Pretty well boxed up I'd say. I do know I was holding my breath, having seen what happened to Nate (and others) when their ratchets were delivered. Odd, given that Grainger's revenues were $7 billion last year, that their shipping skills are so uneven?

I also had two separate deliveries, so that in itself isn't unusual. Glad at least one of your deliveries worked out in the end.

I had to call about my order as well after several emails, dude was really cool about it, said he could make it happen but it would be two different shipments from different states in the US for the two i purchased, no big deal to me as I was still not holding my breath about seeing either of them. They both showed up and not poking out of the boxes as others have posted. On mine the chrome has some very small bubbles and the knurling is light and irregular, but for $20 each (I had to pay shipping as it wouldnt let me pick up at the local even though some of you posted you did) they do seem pretty stout, I still need to fix the flex head as it's stiff and the pin is off center as someone else posted.

Just got mine tonight, came in a huge box with those large bubbles for padding. I haven't looked them over real close yet but they are the new style and the heads arent tight on them, I'd actually say a little loose

I forwarded the main customer service email a copy of my 'order cancelled' email from early December (mentioning that others whom placed orders were still receiving them,) and a different person responded, claiming they would reinstate the order and it should be available for 'will call' by that Friday (last Fri of the year,) and that he would personally email me when the order would be available for pick up.

After New Years, on the 1st, I was going to respond and ask about the status, as it wouldn't show up in my order history through the site, but waited until the next day, when it magically showed up on the Grainger site. A couple hours later, got the email saying they were ready to be picked up.

Both ratchets are the 'new' style, and the 'packaging' was bubble-wrap and packing tape, with the invoice taped on the end. Chrome is nearly flawless, will probably tighten up the joint (not loose to the point of falling down under it's own weight, but slightly looser than I'd like.)

Can't complain a bit about the order, honestly. Don't care about the delay, I think the price alone was worth the wait, and if that weren't enough, I ended up with two of the newer style ratchets. I'm honestly surprised at how much attention to customer service this order received - it would've been so much easier for them to simply cancel the order permanently, but they really went the extra mile.

I love Grainger.

Mine got delivered in the same way, with the handle sticking out.
My only gripe is I got the old style and would've liked the new style.
Oh well, I should not complain for the price, right?

I called yesterday and had the order uncancelled, as well as the ratchet at my local branch put on will call for me. I can only suppose it was the one I had initially ordered. Picked my ratchet up this morning, glad it worked out in the end. It does have a few little scratches but I'm not concerned for the $17 I paid for it.

I had received an unsolicited email on 12/1 stating that my ratchet was temporarily on back-ordered until 12/14. I still had not receive the item as of yesterday so i emailed them this morning inquiring about that status. Turns out it shipped already and is expected to be relieved today. Hopefully my box is not empty.

I ended up with the new style. I wouldn't have cared either way. Just would have been happy to see any at that price.

I received mine a while back after being notified they were on backorder. Never called or emailed. Wasn't expecting them, but one day there was a box at the door. 2 new style ratchets taped together in a big box with paper stuffing. They moved around, but didn't poke through. Great deal.

My box was not empty. I am very impressed with the quality of this ratchet. Not bad for $17 + shipping. I received the new style.

Anybody get a really loose one?

I received my second one (new style with bolt) and when I pulled it from the box it rattled. The top dial is really loose and has maybe 1/16" side-to-side and up-and-down play in it......very annoying.

A quick rant for all you guys who ended up getting the deal.

Grainger reneged on the deal and will not honor it at least for me.
