I am looking at some affordable, large size screwdrivers for some of the bigger things... I stumbled across this sk set, 86322. It has 5/16" & 3/8" wide flathead tips, which is awesome. Looks like they run about $50, which is affordable for me.

Anyone had any experience with this set? I like sk, good quality stuff, but never turned their screwdrivers.

I have a set, they're ok, but personally I like the Whitte (Cornwell/Matco) better. They are definitely better than Crapsman though, and they make for great prybars (they're strong).

Hmmm... That thread listed above says they may be Western Forge, just like Craftsman. That doesn't please me...

Can anyone confirm this? Are they Pratt, or Western?

I dont know which specfic company makes the screwdriver's, but since Ideal owns S-K, W-F and P-R It's sorta all the same family of companies.

I like Witte better than any of the US offerings. The phillips tips seem to work well with JIS too.

I already have a really nice set of German Felo screwdrivers. I was looking for something large (5/16 & 3/8 slotted tips) and plastic that could be my rough and beatable screwdrivers.... Just something decent that I couldn't care less about.

Hate to mistreat my German stuff, plus the tips aren't really that large on the ones I have ordered thus far.....

I have an SK 10 piece set I bought years before they closed and reopened. I bought it because I was tired of replacing Craftsman screwdrivers. The SK set is 20x better than Craftsman's . Only problem I had with the SK set so far was I twisted one of the flat blades a little, had a wrench on the shank trying to loosen something, don't remember what it was.

I wouldn't pay the money for SK if you already have a nice set. I have a great set of Wiha's that I WILL NOT use for beating, so instead I have the run-of-the-mill Cmans and some Stanleys. That way I don't feel guilty banging the **** out of them!

I am on a "refusing to buy from sears" kick after selling 90% of my craftsman tools in the last month. I am even going to harry epsteins to get real wilde pry bars instead of the rebranded craftsman ones....

Maybe i could look at stanley. I guess i was hoping for a small set of inexpensive jumbo screwdrivers, 3/8 slotted and p3 & p4...

Go with the Williams, the SK's are too nice to be considered a beater.
