So, what i'm starting with is a toolbox that dad got from work in the 80's. It's a Stack-On brand 2 Wheel Professional Tilt Cart with a variation of the 6 Drawer Home and Shop Tool Chest. the plans are to remove all of the paint/rust and get to a smooth surface to repaint. I haven't decided on color yet, but black is a definite no.

I forgot the befores, but after the wire wheel,

the key had been in the toolbox since around 1985 or so and had been painted over and tarnished. i put it in some vinegar to soak for a bit then took some scotch-brite to it.

For the color, i originally painted it cub-cadet yellow, but decided it was too bright and went with a color close to SK green.

Very Nice... I like the idea of being able to Tilt/Roll it around with the 2 back wheels.

Very, nice. Record that number stamped on the key. It is a key code and can be given to a locksmith to replace a lost key.

Looks great, any chance you could post a few closeups of the socket/knobs? It's an interesting idea.

I wonder what a "big" tool collection was like when this box was produced....

Some of the local guys whom I know who claim to be tool hoarders cannot compare to those of us nuts on this Forum.

I have some toolboxes and tools that I would like to get some information about but I am having a hard time loading the pictures. The first tool box looks just like a Professional Tool Cart it is gray and looks like the one that was redone above but is has "Tool Caddy" The brand starts with an "S" "Chicago 51, ILL Pat's. Pending. The box that is on top of it is a Kennedy Kits style 260 Kennedy Manufacturing Vanwert, Ohio made in USA. A Craftman bottom rolling tool box that has "ATENT NO. 3393951 stamped on the front right side of the box. There are tools that have "proto" on one side and "MFD Los Angeles USA" and another one that has "PL triangle MB" on one side and "made in the USA" on the other. Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me.

Picture posting 101.
When posting a new thread or comment, click "Go Advanced" at bottom of the box, scroll down to "Additional Options" and click "Manage Attachments" On the left, click "choose file" and pick the picture from your phone or computer. Click "upload" and wait for the attached file icon to appear below. Close out of the window to return to your original post. Now the picture is attached to your comment. iPhones do not get along with this forum and tend to only allow one picture to be uploaded per post and often come out sideways or upside down. If I am posting multiple pictures from my iPhone, I use the Tapatalk app. It's free and lets you view/control multiple forums. You can read, comment, post pictures, etc. There is a test section on this forum to try posting pictures and what not. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Here are some more pictures of the items I had a questions about. These were all my Dad's and I have been helping her go through his shed. I have found timing guns and some other old "car tools" but since vehicles don't have corroborators anymore does anyone still use them? We have lots of random stuff to sort through and as cool as some of this stuff looks like the huge socket and wrenches that look like they are for heavy equipment and the welder that is as tall as me, we can not keep it all. I'm not sure if my dad was a hoarder or just a jack of all trades. I love my tools but I don't work on cars (major work) and everything I learned is old school when there were corroborators...Seriously who needs 8 oil filter wrenches?

I would ask around locally but most everyone wants to take advantage of the situation and we have enough money grubbers and thieves within the family that I don't need to add any to the list.

Any help would be great!!

So you're trying to sell all this stuff, yes? Are you trying to sell locally or eBay? If nobody else comments on this thread in regards to your stuff, create a new thread in the vintage tools section.

Would anyone happen to know a good website to go to so that I can find out the age of any of the tool boxes? When I searched this renovation was the closest thing I could find.

Make a new thread in the vintage or general tool discussion section. You will get all the info you need.
