SK long patten combo wrenches vs. standard

Anyone have pics comparing the two? Just curious as I was looking to get long patterns and a second set. I can't decide between stubby set, or standard as a second set. Thanks in advance!

I can tell you that the standard "long pattern" is not really worth it when you compare the length to a standard size...this really goes for any manufacturer. It's kind of a joke.

If you were starting out...I would just spring for the long pattern to replace standard sizes. I went out about bought a long pattern sunnex set, and when i compared it to my US made craftsman set, they were only an inch longer.


I ended up buying Extra Long or XL pattern wrenches, and they were what i expected and originally hoped for.

If i were to do it all over again, i would have just bought a standard length, and an XL Length set.

SK "standard" wrenches are kind of semi-stubby wrenches ... somewhere between stubby and regular. Probably good for confined space but with a bit more leverage than a stubby. However, they're not really practical for everyday wrenching unless your arm is made out of iron.

SK "long pattern" wrenches are more like modern regular wrenches like Snap-on regular pattern, Wright, etc. This is the style most of us would go with when choosing a SK set.

Calling them stubbies is a bit of a stretch, they are ever so slightly shorter than most,longer than some grabed some different 19 mm here and a stubby to compare. the difference is very small, compared to my protos, craftsman, and HF specials, SK builds cute lil stubbies and they are next on the list, build quality is stellar, and very pleased with them.

Get double box wrenches. They are long.

I love my SK long patterns, I also have a couple of sets of the standard pattern and they are nice as well. Kinda wish they made an extra long as well.

I don't have a set of SK regular but this can give you an idea.

SK's regular length is comparable to Craftsman.

In order:

- Craftsman regular (SK regular are about the same length)
- SK long pattern
- Snap On
- Armstrong ratcheting

It's maybe an extra inch in length but you'd be surprised how much extra leverage that gives you.

Nice could not find my craftsman rp 19mm, I always hear the sk's are short, never felt that way , today was the first side by side look I have had with them , surprised how close they are to the snappys.

Agree with SK extra longs, standard to lp, just not enough difference to justify cost, and lower wrench count in sets anyway.

SK wrenches have always been short. Std length is short. Long pattern is shorter than Snap On std length. If you are looking for long, consider Snap On or Armstrong long pattern (XL).

Also consider Snap On hi performance double boxes. These have been on sale recently for about $200 a set. They are long and nice to use.

I don't have SK long but do have a few standard in black oxide
