I still remember when I was in college my hands fully healed without any callouses, cuts, burns, etc. for the first time I ever remembered before or since, I was ashamed.
Because Proto doesn't carry a pay by the week system. Neither does the 80+ tooth(dual pawl) Wright stuff. And yet, those Big Dawgs were only available for a couple of years. I don't know why they weren't more popular.
However, the new Proto 90 tooth ratchets that are also US made should be a hit once widely available![]()
That *****. I mean, it is great, but it ***** that I've replaced all of my SK ratchets with Snappy's, and added probably another half dozen specialty ones to my stash. WOUld have loved to have had these, instead, regardless of the handle.

I got to play with SK's new 3/8 drive 90 tooth prototype ratchet at their SEMA booth today. I think it's a winner winner chicken dinner.
It has nice balance, crisp ratcheting action, and a screw retained gear cover.
The guys working the booth weren't exactly real knowledgable about how soon the ratchet will be released, or if the final version will have a knurled handle or not. He did say though that it would be a phased introduction starting with 3/8 drive, then 1/2 drive, followed by 1/4 drive. He didn't know if long handle or flex head versions were forthcoming.![]()
Sounds like a X-Frame 2.0 screw-up with the most plain jane product being pushed first and no ETA on anything someone who actually uses their tools might really want like long, flex, long flex, locking flex etc..just like there are no double box, long, or any other variant of X-frame nearly 2 years after they were revealed and nothing in sight in the future either. So best case maybe we'll see some variants in 2-3 years (assuming the trio of "basics" even come out within the next 12 months).
Im sorry but who ever is in charge of product management/R&D at SK should be removed. They clearly think its still 1995 and they have no competition. At the rate their going most of us are going to be dead or in the retirement home by the time they have a dozen new products actually available.
I have money, I want to support them, but they're making it very easy to ignore them when they develop and push a single product that already has 10-15 years of market saturation.
My gosh that pear head is huge. That's way too big for a premium ratchet today in my opinion. that needs to be about half the size
