I decided to start this as its own thread, as it got lost in the Vintage SK thread. I created this table to keep track of the various ratchet, breaker and driver models SK has made over the years, and to lessen some of my confusion about what was available. If anyone can fill in any of the blanks, or provide additional info or corrections, I would love to have it. Thanks to Raiderbilly for his input.

As you can see, this info confirms that 40xxx was 1/4", 45xxx was 3/8, etc just isn't true.

This is an Excel file that I can send to anybody that wants it, or you can use the PDF here. Pm me an email address.

Who knows what the Tuff1 models 40980 and 45180 were supposed to be? I saw one vendor reference to the 40980 being a "Ratchet BL".

I did not include the frankensteins because the pics I have show no part numbers.

Does anybody have a picture of a 40175 Tuff1 long handle 1/2" ratchet?

EDIT: updated attachment with new Tuff1 and black oxide info.

Thanks, STMH

the 40980 is a standard handle 1/4 drive ratchet with black oxide or industrial finish. the 45180 is the 3/8 version of the same. made for a short period of time from about later 90's to early 2000's. there were also industrial finish versions of some of the smooth, full polish wrenches.

SK Farmer, thanks for that info. I have seen the black finish combination wrenches on ebay, but usually only in military sets as shown attached. I wonder if the black ratchets were for the military?

New updates to list. I bought a 1993 SK catalog from Ebay and it had all sorts of black oxide info and lots of Tuff1 info too. The black oxide ratchets and wrenches were regular catalog items. It also has lots of red toolboxes, not green ones, but that's for another thread. I have updated the spreadsheet in the first post.
