I have one but I have always been lukewarm on it. Maybe it's time to unload so I can get something I like better.

I won't be selling mine. One of my 3870s was Grandpas.
But that's cool too see little bits and pieces of the economy picking up.

Growing up, I always used Dad's stuff which was a 3870 with a SO FRS70A. Now decades later, I have basically the same in quarter, three-eighths, and half.

So maybe it was because I got used to it and it's "what I know." But I do genuinely prefer the plain bar style selector knob over any others. Can't imagine feeling lukewarm about it.

Unless your farm store has amazing prices, I think you'll be paying more than $40.

If you google "SK 3870" you'll see most places sell new ones for around $68 - $79 + shipping.

I think the one I saw is a tuff one style with the tri wing. I will try to see tomarrow. This place always has oddball stuff not sure how they end up with some of the tools they have.

The Tuff One equivalent is the SK 43875.

I haven't looked at one in person in a long time but I don't recall any differences between it and the 3870 besides the selector knob.

I wouldn't mind having one, but I've only broken a 3870 once (square drive snapped) so it would be redundant. For $40, it's a good addition that does a lot IMO.

Who knows?
Good grief! Had no idea they were going even close to $30.

I've got three. One of a fellow member for $15
And two more fore my kids one day. Less than $5 for the both of them.

The 43875 has a higher tooth count than the 3870, I believe. I have a 43875, but have not put my hands on a 3870.

Stopped out to look at the store. They have tuff ones 1/2 flex head. The standard 1/2 tuff one ratchets are marked $25. No roto to buy..

I think they go for good money because at this time they don't make them new so if you want your going to have pay the piper.

Picked up a never used SK 3870 Roto ratchet for $20 at the flea market. Never tried a Roto style ratchet before, might be neat. I see SK doesn't make these anymore but they seem like they'd fill a need. Wonder why SK dropped them?

I assume their business model returning to solid basics instead of trying to make everything under the sun in partnership with Facom had most to do with it.

With something like the roto, there is a fair amount of competition from imports now, so it may not have been a profitable one to continue.

The 3870 was to first professional grade tool that I purchased . It was that ratchet that got me into SK purchasing. I hope some day they produce it again.

wrong assumption. sk invented that style of ratchet long before facom was in the picture and long before anyone else did. sk-wayne dates back into the 60's over 50 years ago. i suspect that the roto ratchet may make a return, especially if someone at sk comes up with a new ratchet design at some point.

i think a locking roto ratchet would be a great idea.

Love them rotoheads!!

I typically sell them for $25 to $30 depending on condition. Don't get many coming thru.
