Shortly after i bought mine, my dealer said SK had dropped them from the line. There was a discussion on here at the time with other guys saying how much they liked them. I don't know if SK has started making them again or not, I just know I like the one I have.

Idk how rare they are, I've only ever spotted 1 in the wild, and it was rusted bad. Compared to dozens of regular SK 3/8 ratchets you see all the time at yard sales and flea markets.

Bc of GJ, I bought one off the bay for $30 iirc a couple years ago. The gentleman I bought it from was the original owner and purchased it new in the late 60s. It has the SK in a diamond logo. A little plating loss but man does it work smooth. I haven't used the **** out of it but has been handy on a couple occasions.

I have a tuff1 version, paid $30 or so on eBay a while back, Well worth it. I have been keeping an eye out for a standard version cheap for home.

Funny story short version about a year or two ago an old hardware store about 50 miles away was going out of business and by the time I got wind of it the store was pretty well cleaned out as they say. As I was looking around I spotted an old SK tool board way up high on the wall; you needed a ladder it was so high up there. I asked to borrow the store ladder and low and behold in a thick layer of dust I found a brand new old stock SK Roto ratchet!

I don't remember the price I paid, but just finding it in that empty store made my day.

It's definitely uncommon, especially in new to like-new condition, but the Tuff-1 43875 is far more valuable and what I would consider to be rare. I have sold both ratchets, new and old, and the Tuff-1 variant always seems to always fetch the higher price and go first. Still, I like to think the 3870 was popular enough that there are plenty in existence but beloved enough that they rarely find their way into the secondary market.

It's expensive to manufacture but SK should bring back the roto-head ratchets.

Why didn't you get the tool board too?
