Sk socket…made backwards!?

I’ve had this socket for a few years and always wondered what the deal with it was. I assume it’s a manufacturing error that made it past QC. I tried researching the concept and didn’t find anything. I acquired it from a place i used to work at. It seems the drive and work ends are reversed…see duh pics. It’s this rare? Any special value?

That's cool. Put it on a display shelf. If it's from the Ideal owned SK, nothing surprises me. I don't think there was QC, and if there was, it was one person that was blind.

That sounds like a cool idea.. but first i need to get a proper socket to replace it so my set is still complete

Coworker had a craftsman like that but since he worked at a metal recycler I assumed it was supposed to have been scrapped.

That's no excuse... even a blind man could feel the "step down profile" and which end has 6 points vs 4 points (square).

Not if he had fat fingers. I know all about that curse and doubt I could fit my pinky finger in a 13mm or 1/2 opening.

I just bought a socket like this from Grey Pneumatic to loosen and tighten garage door springs. 3/8" drive with a 3/8" square on the business end.

There are many tool and socket making videos on You Tube. It is not possible for a machine to make a "mistake" in the production run then return to the programed event.

No no no... that socket is made for use in Australia... It could be used in Antartica too but they are hard to find.
