SK socket set, pre war

I have my Father's old socket set, and SK. All pieces are still in the set. Sockets from 7/16 to 1 inch. T bar, speed wrench, breaker bar, extenstions and a S-K model 42470 1/2 inch ratchet that I still use.

Looking for opinions on the box. Should I just leave as is, or sand blast and repaint?

I stumbled on this site, showing the old SK tool line. I believe the set is Pre-War.

My Dad had the exact same set. Too bad I was a dip... kid and lost most of the sockets. I still have a few of them and one of the ratchets.

I vote to leave it as is. A great piece of history and memories!

Nice box. And a great condition ratchet too!
I don't think it's pre war. Boxes at that time had a painted or decal logo that was yelllow, red .
Anyway yours has so much original paint I'd just use it as is.

IMHO removing the patina would be a crime. I vote leave it as is.

Here a few photos of the set with tools. I'm amazed the set is intact. It was used on my Father's farm, then lived through 3 boys growing up.
