SK socket set

Looking at this SK socket set, is this set complete?....or is it missing a couple things?

I tried researching the part number on the inside label (#60632) but really no luck since all that shows up are other SK sets with the same part number.

The part number on the 1/4" driver clearly shows #40954.

Have any idea more or less what year(s) this set was produced?

Thanks to all who post.

Looks like you're missing a socket, tray should be full. As said above; ratchet & breaker bar. Also possibly a 6" extension and universal?

Sockets are mismatched too, often the small sets like that only had a ratchet and possibly a small extension, no spinner or breaker bar in the small box.

I have a few 3/8 sets with the set of 6 point sockets, a ratchet, and a 3 inch extension. Maybe a 5/8 spark plug socket in one or two but not sure if that was original.

Not uncommon for older sets to have a mix of 6, 8 and even 12pt fasteners sold together. I agree that the driver is too big for the box. My box easily holds a ratchet, extension and breaker, but not sure if it is factory setup

I’m not sure if the sockets are mismatched or he is just missing the rest of them

I have a very similar set, case isn’t in as good of shape.

I’m thinking my set was supposed to come with a 1/4 spinner as well, but got lost along the way. 0c33d04e37c8d03e0b8cb441b304dfe9.jpg00f45ca9c3b21bd774661dc8e2566e5b.jpg

It looks like the very first non Craftsman socket set I bought back in '66. It had a ratchet, two extensions and a set of 12 point sockets that filled the rack perfectly.

First off, again, I'd like to thank all those who have posted, very much appreciated. Also the info that has been given is invaluable.

That particular set was listed on Ebay for $19.95 and I was able to negotiate the price down to $14.00 to purchase it. I suspected that it wasn't a totally complete set but still purchased it anyway.

I already had previously purchased a NOS (metric) SK socket set complete, that I had found, from a hardware store about a month or so ago
( see post #46713 https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7811959#post7811959 )
but had been looking specifically for an SK 1/4" driver and well happen to find the one pictured in my first post.

I wanted it because it appears to be in practically brand new condition and of course it came with the metal box and some SK sockets so I went for it.

Then I did a bit more research and found out exactly what the entire kit part number is as well as what the kit should contain (it is a 13 piece kit and the socket sizes are all SAE).

The following is what the kit should have as well as a picture of it.

Sherman-Klove, SK, S-K Tools, S-K Wayne

S-K Tools 1/4" No. 4913 Drive Socket Set - Ratchet, Extensions, Sockets, Driver

S-K 40970 1/4" drive Ratchet
S-K Tools 40954 1/4" Driver
2" extension, 1/4" drive
6" extension, 1/4" drive
The following 1/4" drive six point sockets; 3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16 & 1/2 ( 9 sockets)
Metal Case

some of the SK sets often came with both 12 and 6 point shallow sockets. I have an NOS 3/8 set that has both and per the paper card in the tray all sockets are correct for the set and accounted for.

Not an SK fan, but I can appreciate a vintage set like yours.

Nice.

Why on earth wouldn't you be a fan of SK, I always thought in years past they were damn good quality at the price point. Great customer service in the couple times I've used them as well.

A few months ago, I had a weak moment and picked up a very nice 1/4 dr. set.

My main tech loves SK, i think theyre ok, the only thing i dont like is that alot of the older sets are mixed 6pt and 12pt. I would prefer all 6 or all 12, the new sets come this way, but for the price i can almost buy a snap on set
