I just picked up this apparently unused SK half inch drive SAE set.

Anybody have comments as to vintage or value compared to the usual alternatives?
Anybody with personal experience using this model ratchet?

The words “palm control” came up in my search. The ratchet (3896) works smoothly.

Ratchet, 2 breaker bars, 3 extensions, and sockets from 7/16 to 1 1/4

An eBay seller has just the ratchet up for bid at $118, claiming to have already sold 2 at that price but that’s crazy right?

I haven’t yet decided to sell or gift it away to a relative.

That ratchet is a Facom design made between 1985 and 2005 if I remember right. Proto, Mac, and Facom (all owned by Stanley, Black and Decker) sell ratchets like it. I have a 1/4 proto and don't prefer it. The direction changes too easy when you bump it accidentally. Most people who take it apart don't get the proper tension on the center screw and it wont work right if it's too tight or loose. This looks like military surplus, judging from the case.

government set by the case. i have a 3/8 palm control rat. very similar to a tough 1 and worked exactly the same with 72 clicks except it has a tiny disc in the center of the cap that allows the user to apply force when ratcheting. it shows as "new" in my 2008 catalog. pretty sure it was a design robbed from facom but it says made in usa. imported items in the same catalog lists coo so i would assume all parts were us made.

it showed up in my 2003 price sheet with a suggested retail price of 62.92 and used a 3896-2 rebuild kit. new kits are not available to the best of my knowledge.
