It wouldn't really be an issue if there were some consistency. Painted or chromed, either would be fine, as long as it were the same throughout. The fact that they aren't, raises other questions about what else could have been missed/skipped in the process.
I love all the SK apologizers who come out of the woodwork to defend what's clearly a mis-step in their process (unless you all believe it was intentional and the socket line supervisor said, go ahead, paint the ones you want to for shits and giggles).
Or maybe it's old stock mixed with new or maybe stuff was on backorder and they thought people can't seriously care about this or maybe the paint machine broke.
I can tell you right now if I was in charge of sk it would be beyond my wildest dreams that people would actually care about this.
