Well folks - they told you what to do - want to save an American tool manufacturer? Start buying Wright.

I love my SK green box sets. Don't really care for the ratchets, but the sockets are great and the convenience of the set and the case is immeasurable.

I think it remains to be seen what will happen. When they bought ShopVac, which had laid off its people at the factory in Williamsport, PA, they reopened the plant and hired a bunch of them back and started production again. They also saved Arrow's plant in NJ I believe. There is a US subsidiary Great Star USA that operates the businesses here in the US.

It seems quite possible that they will retain the SK manufacturing here and export the designs, etc. to support their activities in Asia. So watch and wait before jumping ship.

Indy, this is exactly right. I agree with you I have some Wright stuff which is top notch quality, however they never offered a kitted socket set like SK did in the blow mold cases which are my favorite sets I own. Luckily I have most of the SK tools I want but for future buying I will likely be looking more towards Wright.

The Wright rep was in our store yesterday and apparently Wright is coming out with blow-molded socket sets soon. Possibly in the next couple weeks.

Awesome! Great to hear. Always good when a U.S company comes out with a new product, Working in industrial maintenance where you run into SAE and Metric the blowmold cases are great for keeping everything together and not losing stuff.

I’m a big fan of the blow molded cases too. It’s good organization which makes it very convenient on the job.

sk had a 1/4 drive set that had long and short metric and imperial. Was the best for things around the house.

The Chinese don't blow money without a reason - they think long term They don't need another tool manufacturer, so, what's their angle? My guesses are:
#1 - They're buying up the competition.
#2 - They'll probably get access to the proprietary research and development material and be able to incorporate them into their other tools lines.
#3 - With the trade war and tariffs, buying a company already established stateside (with a new factory) probably gives them a way to avoid the tariffs.

Hate to break it to you, but Williams has moved production overseas after Snap-on acquired them.
There are USA made Williams tools, made alongside Snap-on tools in US plants and others sourced from companies like Mayhew and Nupla. There are also Taiwanese made Williams offerings which seem to be made in the same places the import Blue Point items come from.
