Who makes the SK Superkrome wrenches? I recently got a few in a lot of mixed tools I bought.

Does anybody have odd wrenches from the 12 point standard length set (either MM or SAE) that they would be willing to sell or trade?

OK thank you.

Do SK happen to make any of the Craftsman Pro stuff. I find that they look similar.

Not that I'm aware of. They are somewhat similar, but far from the same wrench.

I like SK wrenches, but the C-Man pro ones have a heckuva following around here.

Yup! Do you need them to match up to the part numbers in your set or do you just want to fill in the sizes? Let me know what you're looking for.

It depends on which version of Craftsman pro wrenches you're talking about. SK made the first versions of Craftsman Pro wrenches up until the late 1990's when Danaher took over making the current models today. I think Danaher also made those raised panel fully polished Craftsman pro wrenches that were only around for a couple of years. They sucked.
The SK made Craftsman pros were rebadged SK long pattern wrenches. They also did stubbies and a standard length sets in metric and standard. The standard length sets were only around for one Christmas season in the late 80's. Not bad wrenches but, I don't care for the fat box end SK wrenches have.

I have S&K supper chrome and Cman pros I like the S&K over the Cman's unless I need the extra length of the long pattern. I really like S&K stuff over all I am slowly swapping the bulk of my box over to SK. I have no sears close by that sells tools and a SK guy thats closer.

Thats a full set of metrics you need. I have the 9 mm and 11 thru 19 mm. Also have the 7/8" and the 11/16" on your list.

Rickster, how much would you like to get for those?

Could you give me a call, I will not be at a computer for the rest of the day.

I don't care for the fat box end SK wrenches have.

I think that if you were to take wrenches from other manufacturers and compare them side by side with SK SuperKrome wrenches you would see that the box end is quite comparable to other premium wrenches. The walls of the box end of the SK are actually among the thinnest except right where the beam of the wrench meets the box end. The beam of the SK flairs out into the box end making the back of the SK box end appear to look on the fat side but even there the dimensions tend to be around the same as other wrenches that just start off with a wider beam and do not need to flair as much into to box end to achieve strength. The notable exception to this would be Mac wrenches that have a very narrow beam and do not flair much at all as they merge into the box end.

Yes I think Fedwrench was referring to where the beam merges into the box end. There's an excessive amount of material in that area that makes the whole wrench look fat.

I was referring to the beam of the wrench and the fact it's flush with the bottom edge of the boxed end. Kind of like a woman with wide hips. It's just a matter of personal preference. SK makes decent wrenches (aside from stamping issues others here have experienced) but, I don't care for the additional weight and heft that wider beam by the boxed end brings. Everyone has their favorites. Having to use more steel to ensure strength at the boxed end affects the wrench's balance. I'm not going to mike my wrenches to compare demensions. I have some SK wrenches but, I don't go out of my way to buy them. I like their short offset box end metric wrenches but, those don't have fat ends:bounce:

Wrenchr,

Those are the long pattern wrenches. Thanks for looking, but I need to get the rest of the standard length set.

Supposedly yes

Someone on here stated for sure that they made some of the C-Man pro flare nut line wrenches.

I do like th pros. but beware, C-Mans metric line wrenches are NOT, repeat NOT sure-Grip ( or any equivelent), while thei SAE ARE.

Grant

Really? I guess I never paid any attention. I used the metric more than the SAE and never had a problem....

It is possible that SK is not the OEM for all of the Craftsman pro flare nut wrenches. SK has made polished flare nut wrenches for Craftsman but they may not have supplied all of them. The pro combination wrenches were made by SK at one time but the ones I have seen in recent years look like the recent Matco wrenches but without the modified open end. I have seen the SK made pro line wrenches in the store recently but Sears is free to change suppliers at their whim.
