Does SureGrip really work or is it an advertising gimmic? I really like the idea of the socket gripping the side of the socket rather than the corners of it. I've rounded too many fastener with Craftsman. The reason why I want to upgrade my socket set is to reduce rounding of fasteners and better build quality.

Unless your cman sockets are really old, they have the same basic design of not engaging the corners. Somewhere on here is a really good write up showing how all the makers use this style now.

Yes, everyone has their own off-corner engagement design. SK's is called SureGrip, Wright's is called Wrightgrip, Snap-On calls it Flank Drive...

I think my Craftsman are decently new, I have to check the model # on the socket to confirm. It's part of the ~260 pcs. set and I bought it a couple years ago.

I was doing my timing belt job a couple months ago and I noticed some bolts were rounding. It could be my fault but I'm usually really careful when working on my car.
