SK Teardrop 90 Tooth Question

Hey Ya'll,

I've been doing my best to SK employees kids through college (buying a lot of SK lately), so why buck the trend right???

Now honestly, the last thing in the world I need is another 3/8" ratchet...then I got to fondle one of the new SK teardrop's in the flesh...and OMG it was nice. As in, nicer than a Snap On Dual 80 IMO (which IMO is THE 3/8" ratchet to beat). Chrome wasn't quite as nice, but it's pretty close. The action is SMOOTH, like butter!

It's Like Butta!

To be honest I really prefer knurled handles, and SK is one of the few who still do that. But I also know that the smooth handles are preferred by most. But for a smooth handle ratchet it's just a super nice ratchet.

So for those who have them, what are your thoughts? To my eye, it's the ratchet to beat now...what do you think?

Ah heck, just when I thought I was close to being done with getting more ratchets, you have to post this. If it really is that good, then I'm going to have to get one - long handle flex when they become available (along with a couple of the drop-in round head DT kits when they get the bugs out). I WAS going to look for a good used Dual 80 but now it looks like that plan is gone all to hell. :willy_nil

Anyway, everyone who has one, please chime in. So I can start to concoct the lie to tell my wife about my needing one.

I have one. It's a nice ratchet but, I don't think it's nicer than an F80 or the MAC axis 3/8 drive ratchets. I feel SK should have retained their classic knurled handle instead of going smooth. The ratchet has nice balance & excellent chrome. The green direction switch is a nice touch. Although it's head is thinner than a traditional SK round head ratchet, it's not as thin as say a Gearwrench 84 tooth ratchet. Check for other threads because, some people have reported locking up & autoreversing issues. I would like SK to release 1/4 drive versions and long handle and flex head models. It's good but, it is by no means the best ratchet in the world.

I like mine a lot more than I like my Snap-On dual 80 ratchets, it makes the dual 80's feel like they came out of a Kmart blue light special. However, I do still prefer my SK round heads, and I would like it even more with a classic knurled grip. I haven't had the reversing issues that others are having.

I've had mine for a while and I love it, well balanced, thin head, just a pleasure to use

Haven't had any issues with mine either. It's thinner than the Snap-On Dual 80, and also feels a lot better mechanically than any Dual 80 I've used.

I like mine more than an f80. It's the best feeling ratchet I've ever used. That being said, I don't use it that often because it's not long and it's not a flex head.

I like the Bahco 7750 better than the Snap On (same ratchet basically). Mostly I just find the Bahco handle is just more comfortable.

Now honestly, I haven't actually used the new SK, but it was REALLY nice, that's for sure.

It's by far my best rachet. I can't compare to snap on, but it's much smoother than my other ratchets (SK round head, Proto teardrops, older Kobalt and old Craftsman.) Proto heads are just as thin, but way less teeth. That being said, it is not so much better that it gets the most use. Like most people are saying, I hope they release a long handle flex version.

Now imagine that SK 90 tooth head, on a flex, long, with the green hard handle off an SK SureGrip screwdriver. :rocker:

I'd sure buy it.
