Sk toolbox question

Picked this up today, need an SK expert to help me out. Any idea on age and value of this box? Thanks!!

Well this would be about 1940-1950. It has modified handles and may be missing the front cover. In really good condition they can bring $100. But I am unsure with the cover missing and an after market paint job.
These were used to house s-k master mechanics set. I have a near complete one if you want pictures.

The way the box sits it isn't worth much. It's missing the front panel and the tray, has the wrong drawer pulls and poor repaint. I would think $25 would be the very most I would consider.

I wouldn't be too sure that box didn't come in red originally. I've found advertisements with red boxes from about '35- '50. Just sayin......

I've attached pix of my box. The tray is in the top rear and you can see the correct pulls.

His box has red paint on the S-K tag which led me to believe it was repainted. BUT, it may have red originally.

Here is a pic of my tool box. All items are of the correct era except for the short dbe which I have 2 of 3 but need the 3rd. There is the hard to find Ford connecting rod socket. This 1 has taken me about a year to fill so far.

Do you have access to a sand blaster? Otherwise strip the paint and sand off the rust, prime and repaint.

Here's another from an earlier period. Don't know the dates but judging be the drawer pulls I assume earlier than yours and mine.

Same here, id like to fill this box i have with the proper sk tools. If anyone can provide that info for my box please let me know. I do not see any resemblance of left over old green sk color paint on mine... Not sure what date it comes from still

No ideal color match that I know of. As I noted in another thread of mine, I used Rustoleum Hammered Green and quite frankly, like it better than SK Green. Although obtaining the Hammered Green may be a little tricky.

It is from the s-k diamond era which is pre Wayne so I would put it at 1950s. I never have repainted and s-k box before but they are a hunter green with hammer or wrinkle finish. The newer version were a brighter green but I would say with that era a hunter green would be the best choice.

I probably have a lot already but I'd love to do what you've done. When full and complete what do you put the value of you're set at?? I want it for personal use and hoarding but I'd be interested at knowing that value

I have only ever seen 1 complete set and it sold for $210 with box and all the tools.
