Perhaps next time they run this promo they will require an email address with a tech school domain to qualify, seems that would be the easiest way to weed out the non-students if they really want to. Honestly I would never preemptively contact a company asking for a hat/sticker/etc, but if they're offering it up and it's something I'm actually interested in or have spent money on in the past then I'll throw my name in. Didn't jump on the Autolite hat offer because I never have and probably never will use their products, but if it had been NGK or Bosch I sure would have. Likewise, I've never asked for any freebies from Channellock even though I've got hundreds of dollars worth of their tools, but I picked up some more on Epstein's Day specifically because they were supporting the event and offering up some promo items (and I'm now proudly sporting their sticker on my box.) I have contacted a few companies to request a paper catalog, often easier than browsing their site (the Knipex catalog is quite nice and has some interesting tidbits about the company and their tools,) and on rare occasions I've sought out and purchased a hat or shirt sporting the logo of a company whose product I strongly support. Not trying to argue for the sake or arguing, it just seems from my viewpoint that if something is offered it's not so much of looking for a handout. This one in particular was probably meant for tech students, but (my memory may be off) I don't recall it explicitly stating that you should *not* enter if you're not a currently enrolled student. I guess we'll see how SK really feels if they run it again and change the terms!
