Got my stuff today. I have an SK torque wrench and its a top notch tool. I would buy more from them just based on that, but their hat offer and effort to fulfill it sealed the deal.

Do they sell direct? Seems like some distributors would be miffed at the thought of this.

I don't think so, but tooltopia often sells S-K under list.

I don't have a local S-K dealer anyway unless you count a local parts store that will order stuff for me but doesn't stock anything.

Jori told me that if there is enough interest, Epstein's will look into carrying SK. He told me that he has a very good relationship with the SK rep, who knows about Garage Journal and things like Epstein's Day.

Just a possible option.

I asked Jori why they do not carry SK and she said it it was too similar to wright. I am a big fan of SK but I can see why she would say that. They both make great tools I would like to see Epsteins carry them. SK has been great to do warranty with from my experience.

I just bought a new SK wrench rack a 16mm, 19mm and 21mm stubby also a 1/4 flex ratchet since SK screwed me and gave me that 20 mm stubby wrench. I already had the 7 piece set now i will have an 11 piece set.

Got mine today, thought for quite a while that it wasn't going to come. It was nice of them to kick in the wrench. A class company.

Your local dealer is running a pretty good deal right now.

SK Hand Tool 1/4" Dr 6Pt Semi-Deep Met Socket Set, 12 pc w/FREE Semi-Deep Frac Socket Set for $81.99.

For reference the SK Hand Tool (SK 41692) 12 Piece 1/4" Drive 6 Point Semi-Deep Socket Set is $69.99 @ tooltopia.com http://www.tooltopia.com/sk-hand-tool-41692.aspx

But don't look on any web site and try to figure out what the actual length of a semi-deep socket is. Not even on the SK web site which annoyingly lists the same info over and over and over no matter which socket shallow, deep, semi-deep, extra long deep, you click on.

The print catalog actually has dimensions... although they call the sockets "deep" and "extra long deep" not "semi-deep" and "deep" (the "deep" are shorter than a typical deep socket; the "extra long deep" are the same as a typical deep socket)

good reason to request the print catalog if you don't have a local stocking dealer...

1/4 they refer to midlength as midlength. It is only in 3/8 drive that the deep from 6MM to 15MM are midlength, and the extra deep from 6MM to 15MM are regular deep (Compared to other brands).

Wrong.

1/4" drive = standard, semi-deep, deep
3/8" drive = standard, deep, extra long deep

Did you not just read what I wrote? Let me say it again.

In 3/8 drive, the sets SK sells as "deep" are in fact akin to other brands Semi-deep sockets. Sk's "extra deep" are akin to other brands deep sockets. It only applies to 6MM to 15MM, as whether you order the deep or extra deep socket set, the 16MM+ are the same size (and are advertised as regular deep anyway).

I own these sets, so I know.

Still waiting for mine too and damn I have a lot of SK tools.....wtf !

You're not alone. I haven't received mine either.

...and I have a couple of BIG toolbox drawers full of SK stuff (wrenches and socket sets).

Since they have your address they were able to fly a small insect sized drone into your garage and know you both have an abundance of SK tools. The likelihood of you needing to buy many more tools probably slim, besides they already have you hooked. No need to butter you up with a free hat and a shiny trinket. :lol_hitti

I stopped by o brian tools to see What it was like. They have a decent SK and lisle. Some nice USA made used tools. I bought two SK tools. I have never seen their pliers in person they are very nice I also got the 3/8 in a 1/4 body flex ratchet both cheaper than Amazon.

:edit: on that ratchet i paid less than tool topia. They dont have the pliers on tool topias site, not bad for a B&M store.

So THAT's what that buzzing was out in my garage last night around midnight? Dang thing wouldn't stop so I had to give the intruder a swat with my 12 gauge flyswatter. Now I gotta another fix the hole in the wall.

...and since they know what's in my toolbox they KNOW that my metric stubby selection stops at 19mm and is missing another one (12 or 14 :dunno:). ...and they know that most of my SK collection was either "appropriated" from my Dad or bought second hand. A small push from them could get me purchasing new from an authorized dealer.

I just noticed that my little 1/4" and 3/8" finger drives are SK models rebranded as Craftsman. These are great little drives.

W = SK Hand tools, post-Facom , ca. 2005 - 2008

Other codes to remember on Craftsman tools:
K-circle = SK, ca. 1939 - 1951 perhaps later
K = SK division of Facom, ca. 1985 - 2004, could still be NOS
X = SK Hand tools, post-Facom , ca. 2008 - 2009
.(Dot) = SK, ca. 2008 - 2009

Still don't have that dang hat...

I figured I was never getting the hat, and just received the hat, wipes, letter, catalogs, and 20mm stubby from SK.

Absolutely fantastic. I'm already looking for a dealer so I can order some of the body clip & rivet tools from one of the sheets that was in the box. Apparently they knew I was in the market and enticed me with free tools :)

Good luck; I watched ebay for a year waiting on them to pop up.

I don't see the tuff-1 on the sk web site...are those NOS?

I think they were made prior to the "new" SK. I have one in 3/8" and it's a fantastic ratchet.

Nice little gem you got there. Sold on eBay last for $45!

The one in the link is different: not USA. The Craftsman name wraps around the side (not on the top). Can't quite make out the maker's mark from the pics in the ad but it doesn't look like a W. That same seller sold a very similar one but 3/8" drive that was SK/USA.

It is amazing it still sold for so much and not USA made. Wonder what makes the one they sold so special to get such a high price.

I just got mine a couple minutes ago. Steve, I want to buy the SK stubbies now, too. The chrome is awesome. Did you get a black hat (I did), or the checkered hat from when we filled out the thing?
