Who knows?
So even you, a moderator, admit it was a hole/loop-hole whatever.

Live your lives how you want to. But there is a difference between right and wrong, honest and dishonest.

If I can quote your post Bull, you were "ratted" (called out IMO) out because, here's the quote: "Because we took advantage of an offer for a hat and paper catalog?" and "non-techs took advantage of a hole to get a hat and catalog"

My issue isn't that people got free stuff from SK. My issue is how. The catalog? No biggie. The hat? Something that SK incurred an additional expense to produce? That's the problem. The wrench? No problem, except (and I may have misread the thread here) that it seems as if SK sent the wrenches out as an apology for the delay. Again, I might be reading that part wrong.

If you wanted something free from them, ask them. You don't have to lie.

AGAIN: What part of this do ya'll not comprehend? "We are aware that there are several individuals that are taking advantage of this program that are not actually tech students.

Unfortunately many companies runs this risk when holding a marketing campaign."

This is proof (to me at least) that SK was trying to make the best of a situation that they didn't intend to be in. In other words, make the best of a bad situation, and try and put the best face on it considering the circumstances.

For those of you saying shut up, have some integrity.

Ya'll carry on. I've got nothing left to say on this.

I respect your opinion, and see your point jarhead, but it is not like anyone took advantage of a student discount on tools. SK will profit from this promotion..and they should. The letter clearly states the demand from being posted on GJ caused a delay..then they added extras to the package. This speaks of SK's character as a company...in a GOOD way! Their tools are obviously great quality. Lets say the package cost them $150.00 to send to me...I'm pretty sure I will spend more than that on SK, since they have me drooling over the catalog, and wrench!!

I didn't see the tech part being a requirement, but then again I went straight through the link. Under school and teacher I put NA so I think that makes it clear I'm no tech. I am genuinely interested in the catalog since most people here seem to love SK

You contacted SK and linked them to us here as if there was some harm done to them that you were ceremoniously remediating. In fact, no harm has been done to them, and they know it. It's precisely why they sent the wrench and wipes and letter despite knowing that we aren't all techs.

Because no harm was done to them, that leaves only a difference of opinion about what constitutes a meaningul lie, one which connotes a negative and harmful action. You are not the moral arbiter here. If you don't like what happened, it's fine to say so. When you first spoke up, I acknowledged the validity of your points. But going and tattling on us, that just seems unfortunate, and continuously linking this non-issue to some greater ethical decay also seems regrettable.

I also do not believe that the sentiments of a customer service rep are to be taken as the sentiments of SK's marketing department or corporate executives.

And since this is hardly a "hot deals" thread anymore, I don't imagine it will be open much longer.

I spoke with a marketing rep for SK today. I explained to him went down here. He told me about the three founding principles of SK as established when the company was born. He said what we did didn't violate any of the principles and seems to have created a positive opportunity.

Case closed.

I also talked with him about an SK Day, which he seemed excited about. I'm going to e-mail him so he can share the idea with his team. I'll keep you guys posted.
