SK tools VS. Williams

Either one is great I'd say. I have a few williams sockets. Get quality. SK is top notch too. You will probably have a better selection with SK.

Figure out what size wrench you use most often, buy one of each in that size (used will save you money), and try them both out to see which one feels most comfortable under wrenching conditions. That will be the brand you'll want to buy.
Both will be similar in structural quality and strength, but for the moment SK seems to be experiencing some quality control issues when it comes to the appearance of the chrome finish. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with them

Which Williams Taiwan or US made?
I think it depends on what you're looking for. SK has a much wider range of metric tools. I think SK has much larger size markings on their sockets. Both brands will serve you well.
It's kind of like blondes, brunettes, or red heads. Each have their pluses and minuses but, it's up to the individual user as to which one they prefer.

How's your vision? Williams USA stamps their sizes pretty small (especially on 1/4" drive) while SK is extremely easy to read.
I use primarily a mix of Williams USA (with Snap-On fill ins) and Williams Taiwan (with Blue Point fill ins) at work alongside with my SK mid-lengths (3/8" & 1/4"). I also just replaced all my home sockets with new SK. I've had zero issues with either brand (besides one set of Williams sockets showing up with a Snap-On socket on the rail

Either brand will do you right. Williams is limited on certain sizes (which can be filled in with Snap-On or Blue Point accordingly). SK is great for going into full sets with their awesome cases.

Williams...provided it's Williams USA has the edge in my book. Not that SK is a slouch or anything...they make great stuff too.

I would say they are a horse a piece. Really comes down to what you like about their individual offerings.

It's just personal preference. If given the choice between SK and USA made Williams, I'd jump at the Williams.

I have quite a bit of old SK from back before I acquired Proto and Snap on, and I'm trying to fill out a late 50's box of Williams. I'd trade SK for USA williams of the correct era any day because of that.
Otherwise, the comparative quality depends on which pieces. I've seen some very nice SK, and some pretty poor Williams. But, overall, I think Williams is slightly better.

Thanks for the replies... I`m an old mechanic (71)..Been working on cars since I was 17 years old. Had my own shop for 36 years and it was the best time of my life ! So now I`m buying tools to use for the few friends that I still help out.....I still do a lot of marine transmissions from different marinas`I dealt with when I was in business. I was a Snap On person since my early 20`s but I sold the tools with the business.I`ve bought a ton of SK tools and the quality seems to match that of SnapOn as far as they`re sockets and wrenches. Their screwdrivers seem to be rebranded Craftsman but works fine so far. What made me go to SK is "Made in America".

Ratchets i give Williams the nod, based on assortment alone ( although I've owned both in the past I don't have either now ), sockets only because SK does have greater assortment ( have a few sets of impacts from both brands and am happy with both )wrenches i dont think SK can touch the feel of a Williams 'Superrench' by far one of my favorite wrenches and have complete sets of combo and open end. Think between these two it comes down to personal preference USA made Williams and SK are both very good tools

You cant go wrong with either one. Williams ratchet are excellent, sk tools sockets, wrench are good quality for the money.
