SK vs Snap On Screwdrivers

I have about the same amount of SK hard handled screwdrivers, as I do Snap On Instinct screwdrivers. I really like the Snap On handles, I feel I can get a better grip on them. However I break a fair number of them and lost some others. I feel like the SKs are a more durable driver but I cant torque them like the Snap Ons.

Does anyone have a side by side picture of the SK "Comfort grip" and the Snap On Instinct? Or an opinion on them. I would like to see before I order, as I have no SK dealer, or Craftsman (Canada)

I like the SK(craftsman pro) soft grips a lot. I do like the Snap On Instinct handle better but the SK is a VERY close second. I only own the Craftsman version but the SK is IDENTICAL in every way but color. If you are breaking snap on screwdrivers that frequently you may want to look into the Klein demolition screwdrivers or any other company that makes them.

How are you breaking them.

All sorts of things, always twisting of some sort, if I break them prying I don't claim them. Mainly the smaller ones. One more extreme example: I had a 1/4" screw I cut a slot in and used the my impact on the nut. (yes this is extreme I realize). Snap on broke almost instantly, SK took it no problem. I do have Wera (which I love) but the tips wear sort of fast IMO

I like the SK green hard handles also. I have found some of the SK handles to be huge for the size of the driver.
Anyone know if you can change the blades on the SK's like you can on snap on's ?

Just started using the Carlyle screwdrivers from NAPA, I really prefer them ergonomically over my Craftsman Pro USA drivers.

Screwdrivers ideally should have a narrow diameter, round handle section in the front of the handle. Not a fan of sk pro or cman pro for not having that feature.

Look at beta, facom, pb, wiha, witte etc they all share similar ergonomic bit upfront. even the old school hardhandles have it in many cases. seems like a step backwards to lose that.

The only screwdrivers thats worth buying.

Witte/Matco are great for high torque
Were is great for everyday use

Well, yes and know. I know they're all made by Western Forge, but the Craftsman Pros tips are polished or chromed only. No laser etching or grooves, etc. I can't say how the SK soft handles are, but the hard handles are different than cman pros. I personally like the feel of the SK hard handles and prefer them over the Snap Ons. Maybe it's because I have real man hands?

Yes, if you're comparing current ideal owned western forge made SK to craftsman professional screwdrivers.

No, if you're comparing the older better French made green hard handled screwdrivers to any craftsman screwdrivers.

On a side note, I really hate the shape of the current SK green screwdriver handles. It's like they used pry bar handles.

Here's 3 USA made SK hard handle screwdrivers vs 3 Craftsman Pros. You can see the Cman Pros are just plain old tips with no etching or machined lines. Even regular Craftsman screwdrivers have machined tips. The SK's have a laser etched tip. Whether or not it makes a difference is up to you...

You can also see in the bottom picture the Cman phillips tip is destroyed, yet it's been barely used. They're literally like brand new because I don't use them. I just don't care for them.

AFAIK, nothing will get rid of that smell.

My new PB Swiss acetate handles smell like vanilla, mmmm.....

If it were my money, I would not buy SK soft handles or Cman Pro's. I would choose Snap On instinct, Williams or SK HARD handles. FYI OP the Williams USA hard handles are the same as Snap On's old hard handles. Like the black handled screwdriver in my first pic. The choice is yours my friend..

They must be over stocks bought in the last year or so. Mine all have vapor blasted tips. And work awesome.

What do you expect for $2.49 a shot

Non outlet store craftsman professional screwdrivers have vapor blasted nonslip tips just like the SKs.

If you want great screwdrivers, look at the Proto Durateks. Make sure you get the bolstered set.

Yours are identical. The others were a over production or factory seconds sold at Sears outlets. They actually had some "normal" blasted tip versions mixed in the box. You just had to dig. Meant for buster21.

I purchased a couple Duratek to try and wasn't really impressed. My go to are still my soft handled instincts. Those ACR tips have some incredible bite and I like the handles. Im far from a koolaid drinker but I've yet to find anything better for gripping Philips short of an impact driver.

I thought that was clearance price because they're discontinued. They only cost $7 at Epsteins! What do you expect for $7 each?? $5 extra for the non slip tips... Not sure who's the sucker in this case.

JIS tips are awesome when you don't need them, and even better when you do.

I know this is my first post, but I swear the only reason I'm posting is due to my fondness of these screwdrivers. I also have a new SO, an old SO ratchet drive (great in certain instances), wera, wiha, and the obligatory craftsman WF set.

I bought the vessel screwdrivers because I need JIS Philip's tips for working on Japanese electrical equipment. The quality is beyond outstanding. If Starrett made a screwdriver, it might rival this one for feel.

I can stick my 6" #2 Philips into a JIS screw sideways and it will hold itself there. I'll have to post a picture after I can take one at work.
