I had a set of metric wrenches (10-17mm) that the chrome started peeling on. Sent them in and in 2-1/2 weeks I had a brand new set on my doorstep. No questions asked. I'm glad I made the investment in SK after crapsman started moving to China.

While I am not brand loyal, I will only buy hand tools made in USA. I have always been fond of my 90's vintage Craftam Professional wrenches, which happen to be made by SK for Craftsman back then. It's good to hear about their warranty as I have started to replace my other Craftsman tools with SK.

I just called the customer service line earlier in the week. I have 2 very old 1/4" drive ratchets that need repair kits.
I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes and they had 2 repair kits on the way to me at no cost.
Great customer service is rare these days. Nice to see that it still exists.

Just kitted a 3/8 SK and Matco today.Same thing. Called(not emailed) and talked a minute or two. Kits sent.
Installed the Wright kit last night. All had original guts. SK and Wright are 1960's.Matco was newer (whenever the 88t first came out ?)
I guess someone else will have to call them next time.I'll be taking a dirt nap.

I posted this account in another thread also, but thought it fitting that it go here as well:

I broke an S-K 3/8in breaker bar when I was a young stud in my teens. Can't remember what I was wrenching on, but the "handle" broke right where the pin went through the knuckle.

I threw it in the tool box drawer, where it sat for some 40 years.

I sent it in to S-K, just last year, and they sent me a nice new shiny one free of charge!

I just mailed in a cracked socket with a note asking for a ratchet kit as well - took them less than 2 days from receiving to send out a new one and the kit.

Very happy!

Chrome started peeling on my SKs but those cotton pickin' "Crapsmans". Ironic? The "Crapsman" joke stopped being funny decades ago. Tools that bore the "Crapsman" name have gotten a fair amount of work done in the USA for a long time.

I'm no Craftsman loyalist and I will never spend money on a Chinese made Craftsman tool but I'm sick and tired of that really funny joke. Sorry OP, I know the term has been used hundreds of times on these boards by others but I can't keep my mouth shut anymore.

They have been really good on the couple of warranties for me.
I am liking Ideal SK a lot more these days. Last warranty item was a 1/4 dr spinner handle and it just screams quality, green hard hanle and very nice chrome.
I priced some impact sockets I purchased during SK days with a similar set on the Cornwell truck on Wednesday and the SK was a far better deal.

I'd like to see them set up a retail online deal like Mac and Snap-On have.If they did, and had some sales now and again, it could be pretty profitable and eliminate the guessing about the era of the products you order. It may also eliminate any "bulk" excuses...... if there are any like "Oh went sent 350 sets, couldn't inspect every single one".
They'd probably need to set a $100 or so minimum to prevent 1/2 hour calls over the possibility of soon to be released products or the famous "are these painted inside ?" Can I special order one that's all chrome"
Huh ? No,not today just the 3/8 x 13 mm short today, thanks.
Is there a discount for say... 3 or more sockets ?
Can I have free shipping since I'm only one state away ? Do you accept HF coupons ? :shocking::lol_hitti

Ever watched "Chasing Classic Cars" on Velocity? The mechanic on it, Roger, is like a car whisperer. I've seen him wrenching on 7 figure cars with Craftsman tools. I still have my late 80s Craftsman tools around here and figure if they are good enough for Roger then I'll keep them. I'm with you though, won't be buying any Chinese made ones.

All my sockets and combo wrenches are made in the USA craftsman stuff in my garage. The box in my little workshop is full of Only made in the USA or Germany stuff and I can't make that happen any more with craftsman.

It's not me bashing their name. They ruined their name all on their own. I'd never sell the craftsman stuff I have, but when it breaks I don't warranty it anymore because I get China junk in return.
