I just picked this box up off CL for $5. How should I go about cleaning it up? Is it worth keeping it original or should I just repaint it a different color?

Use wd-40 and a green scrub pad (brillo maybe is the the brand?)

Thank thing is dirty, but the patina looks fantastic!

I think it looks great. Just give it a nice cleaning and straighten the handle on the tray.

I am very biased, though. Full disclosure: I collect original finish vintage.

Clean first, then give it cold appraisal of what you want to do with it. Rust bugs me, so very likely I would not be happy until all the hardware came off and got replated, and at that point we are talking total refurb.

OTOH I could see using it pretty much as is, but not sure for what.
