sk wrenches vs truck brands

considering spending the extra money to get a good set of combo wrenches but not sure if spending 2-3 times the money on similar sets is worth it especially because ive heard good things about sk. I currently use craftsman and havent had any problems with them but with alot of there tools being made overseas and alot of the sears stores closing Its time to upgrade

I was in the same boat. For wrenches I bought some Gearwrench and have been very happy with them. But they are Taiwan. SK are the best thing up from Craftsman or down from SnapOn, though you can also find good deals on craiglist and ebay for things like Armstrong and other good US made wrenches for the price of Craftsman or SK.

I posted these in another thread... you should also look at Wright. They are the same price as SK, give or take, but they have a feature similar to Flank Drive Plus called WrightGrip.

They are every bit as high quality as the truck brands, and I would almost dare to say a bit better. The finish is so nice on these wrenches, that it borders on jewelry.

Thats not a sound reason, its an excuse.

I have a stupid amount of combo wrenches from varrying brands, honestly they all do the job and i couldnt say any one brand was vastly superior. I tend to lean towards the longer style personally regardless of brand.

By the way i actually use my wrenches. A lot.

Are you sure they're made in Taiwan, and not China?

GearWrench switched all their tools from Taiwan to China a while ago. If yours are made in Taiwan, then they must be pretty old stock, or you bought them a while ago.

Some people have claimed the Taiwanese versions are better. I don't currently own any Gearwrench brand tools, so I can't comment.

SK is a little harder to have replaced than Snap-On, but the new SK is definitely a quality tool and when my finances permit, I will be investing in a full set of SK SuperKrome wrenches.

i on a couple occasions have busted knuckles cause a crapsman spread sold all my crapsman wrenches for that reason..

i suggest to the OP look into williams wrenches also they're good for the price.

i have sk,snapon,mac,williams, wrenches usually reach for my williams . they're long pattern havent encountered any problems and they're satin finish.
