So the wife wants to raise ducks:dunno: and I need a place to get the lawn and garden supplies out of the barn. As you know if you've read my thread, the late Fil left enough lumber to build a 14'x 26' shed/room. I'm using sketchup to see where the new building will look the best. I started with the Google map photo since the house and barn are laid out at goofy angles to each other. I did a quick build of the house and barn, but when I try to rotate the barn around one of the bottom corners, the whole thing starts twisting.:willy_nil At one point, part of the roof was under the ground level.:eyecrazy: How do I rotate the entire barn around one verticle corner? I need to rotate it about 30degrees.

By selecting the entire barn, does that make it a component, or is there a set for that? Thanks for the help.

select the entire barn, and right click... the context menu has a make-component selection.

you can also make multiple objects into a group instead of a component. follow the same instructions as above, but you don't have to name groups (it saves you a step).

the benefit of components over groups is that they are dynamic, in that if you make a copy of a component and change one of the copies, all of the other components change accordingly. (ie. if you were drawing a car, just draw one wheel and make it a component. since you're probably not going to have multiple barns, just make it a group).
