ski storage ideas?

Anyone have good ski storage ideas? I'd like to store 5ish pairs of downhill skis, 3 - 4 pairs of cross country, a few snowboards plus poles etc etc. My garage door is fairly close to the wall but there is a ~10" deep space about 48" wide that I want to use.

I've heard that the traditional way of hanging skis between pegs by their tips is bad for the skis. I'm thinking either short lengths of PVC in a box on the ground or some kind of pegs to lean them against the wall like a vertical bar rack.

For snowboards I'm thinking some T-track and some kind of plastic washers or knobs.

Thoughts? Great ideas?

I made a horizontal ski storage rack above my garage door. It is just two rectangles made from 2x4's that are screwed to the ceiling. Since they aren't used year round it keeps them out of the way where they don't get banged around and also frees up other space. The only drawback is having to use a stepladder to get them down.

Here is my simple effective get it out of the way solution. U channel with some 3/4” pipe welded to it wrapped with pipe insulation to protect the skis...

Can’t see any reason why this^^^ would be bad for the ski.

They’re typically hung back-to-back between the pegs so it’s not like their weight would be enough to straighten the curve of the tips. And even if it could it’d be so slight as to be undetectable, and would spring right back to their original curve instantly anyway.

Think you heard correctly...........Any thing that effects (pinching or wedging) the camber or rocker should be avoided according to most ski shop experts ......like EVO sports.

Few other sites use statement like this: It is very important not to compress the ski’s camber unless otherwise instructed by the manufacturer.

I stand mine up in the corner .........but we have large basement storage that is cool and dry.

I usually bag mine and store in attic off season but I’m so impressed with my Burton Flying V I may make a display case

For wall mounting i would buy heavy duty shelf brackets.

For ceiling mounting I would make a couple of U-shaped pieces out of wood, pipe or electrical conduit.

Spring I wax them with base prep wax and lay them on attic floor.
During ski season they are in a rack sitting up right or on my tuning bench.
They travel in a thule wrapped in ski carrying bags and towels.

I picked up the swix evo tuner with ceramic stones, now I need the course and extra fine stone. It is easier than doing them by hand starting with 80 grit and work up to 1200 grit on a polishing stone. 10 strokes a stone, ten stones and four edges. a good 400 strokes to tune edges and that is only if base edge is good.
