Hello everyone. I was curious about the flooring options for a single car garage I'm thinking of building. I am planning on a 12x16 shed/garage with overhead door. It will be placed on top of a cement slab. This will be a place for the storage of motorcycle and tow behind trailer. It will also house typical shed stuff like lawn and garden equipment. The lawnmower will be in its own 3x6 plastic storage compartment to keep out the smell of grass clippings out of the building. I would like it to be portable in the event that we move in the future. It would be nice to take it with us.
I'm worried about the floor not being up to the task of handling a Honda Goldwing. I would like to keep it up on its center stand but know that 1,000lb of force concentrated on two metal points will be too much for your typical flimsy flooring materials. Would two sheets of 3/4" OSB be enough? Was also thinking of putting down a metal plate to distribute the center stand weight. Some kind of rubbarized surface on top of the plate to keep the center stand from sliding around would be nice. Any ideas for this? Also would like some kind of long lasting flooring. It will need to be a useful surface. Open to suggestions here.
What other suggestions does everyone have?
So far the house framing went up this week. It looks like we have about 4 more months before we move in. Looking forward to all the new projects. Called the city building & planning department. Things are looking good so far for the shed/garage.
