Just bought a Case 1840.
I need new glass for the door. I've spent about an hour trying to find a place online that sells them. Anybody know of a place online?

Either that or I'll end up paying bloated dealer prices.

You should be able to contact a glass supplier in your area.
They can cut the glass to fit yours- if flat or order it for any model.
The one in my area supplies all the glass for our rod projects and the farm dealers also.

My 1840 had a Sims cab. I'm assuming by your post that the frame and the gasket are good. That said, there should be aftermarket glass or plastic for it. I'll ask my farvorite parts man tommorrow if I remember.

If I can't find it online I'll have them ship me one. I'm hoping it aint too hard to install.


and yes, the frame is fine. Just tipped over and shattered glass.

If it is flat safety (laminated) glass, call an automobile windshield place, they can cut them easily to whatever shape you want. (The Hummer's windshields are flat glass, and some owners have cut their own that way.)

If it is tempered glass, things get much more difficult...

I believe it's a 99.

My dad bought it new or almost new. Then he sold it to a relative of ours when he bought a new XT75 about 5 years ago. Our relative that bought it didn't use it much. It right now has only 14xx hours on it. He did leave it ouside so it has faded a little. My dad never let anything sit outside. It needs tires badly but they hold air.

I got the machine with 14xx hours +bucket, cab and heat.
A new set of forks
Steel, over tire tracks

$7000.00

Just the door tipped over. He had it off the machine leaning up against something in his garage when he bumped it and it tipped over, shattering the glass.


The machine itself did not tip over.

I'm afraid glass places arent that easy to come by around here either that I can think of.


I don't even have the door yet. I'm going to pick it up this weekend.
He just dropped the machine off last night around dark so I could plow myself out from the storm we got. But if i remember correctly it is just flat glass. Can't remember if any holes in it are required for mounting the wipers or not or if they mount to the metal frame.

You definitely should care what the new glass is. If you go with plain glass, and a rock or something comes over the top of the bucket, even a small one, you could end up with a face and lap full of heavy knives. There's a reason for tempering glass

I would definitely do either a tempered or laminated safety glass. If you do any dump truck work or lifting things up high, I'd do laminated safety or polycarbonate.

Whatever you do, don't do plain glass.

Exactly. That glass is tempered for a reason. I have had a windshield and a side glass shatter while operating backhoes and was very glad they were "safety glass"

I'd go with laminated glass for the simple reason that it will stay intact if something breaks it. If something hits the tempered glass it will turn into all those little pebbles and the object that broke it could still come through and hit you. There is a reason that the windshield on a car is laminated.

If it is flat laminated glass, an architectural glass company could cut it for you too. I got laminated glass cut for the front door in my house to replace the 80+ year old plate glass that it originally had for a pretty decent price.

Actually, what i meant by "I don't care" was I don't care if it's tempered glass, or plexiglass or the other aftermarket stuff they use.

But in any event, the door comes off in spring. The only time it will be on is during the winter to keep me warm.

you probably dont want lexan or plexiglass,
they both scratch very easy.

not sure on a case, the other glass ive seen in const eq is all automotive type safety glass.

old flat glass on bobcats (pre g series) dont have any holes for the wiper, the newer curved glass ( g,k & gen 4 ) does have holes for wiper motor.
the new m series is a whole 'nuther animal.

curved bobcat glass is, (last time i checked), under $150 from a dealer.
cant imagine case would be that much different.
