Skil Saw Case

I bought my first worm drive skil saw last year when I was ripping a bunch of 3/4" sheathing. But one thing that drives me nuts is the lack of a case to store it in. I only use it once a year or so and having a nice case would be awesome.

I've seen older ones for sale on eBay with cases but I haven't seen any cases sold by themselves.

Where can I find a case for one? I'm a little on the OCD side so I would have to have one that was made for it and in good condition. But I wouldn't mind paying decent money for one that was real nice.

The current version of the carrying case is part number 95277. You might try contacting Skil-Bosch directly about it, but it doesn't seem to get very good reviews.

AFAIK, they haven't made a good heavy-duty metal case for the 77 since the 1980s, and they weren't commonly purchased, so they're really rare now, especially in good condition.

Circ saws in general are coming without cases left right & center. I returned one that I thought came with a case and got the only one HD had at the time that had a case. I mean of all of them, every model from every brand, they had one Dewalt with a hard case.

I know it's not directly related to your worm drive question but I just wanted to vent. Hard cases for tools that get used in hard environments is some sort of quandary that they don't get. Gee you save a few pennies and the consumer suffers. Seems like a plan.

I had a Skil case for my worm drive saw. I ordered it from the authorized Skil repair center. It was a little pricey at $60, but it was a beautiful blow molded plastic silver case. I don't have the saw or its case anymore. The case made it real easy for the thief to steal it out of my garage.

You could get one of these if you can't get ahold of another option. I've stored my saw in it before and its not snug but if you carry more than just the saw its plenty good for that purpose.

Jamie, your missing the most obvious solution=make one.
Build a box, put in a shelf for the base plate to sit on. The blade can sit on the side of the shelf or you can cut a slit and let the blade set in it.
A small carriage bolt thru the lid with washer and nut on inside and you can store your extra blades.

There has to be some kind of option out there that I'm missing.....

Either get the correct case or get nothing at all. The word "compromise" is not in my vocabulary. Is the case worth $60.00 ? Probably not but it's a damn fine case and there's alotta worse things to spend your money on.

"The $21.97 Solution - Skil Worm Drive Case"

I've found a good solution to this problem. It is a durable, high-quality, hard case for this heavy saw. The case is not made by Skil and in fact is DeWalt branded but the DeWalt name is subdued and only on the latch. There is no signature DeWalt yellow on the case at all and it seems to be a perfect case for a Skil 77 Worm Drive. There is a little extra room for some saw oil and extra saw blades.
If you tuck it in there right, you can even save the top tool tray that comes with the case but will not allow the lid to close with the saw inside (see my pics). The top tray (on the side) actually helps to stabilize the saw to keep it from wobbling around inside the case. Hope this helps!

I don't have that same model but I made a case for one of mine from an old box I found in a basement. It was ALMOST long enough to fit both the 7 1/4 and the 6 1/2, it was also ALMOST tall enough for the saw to fit. I made a new taller lid and said I'm done with it.
