Here's a 1979 model Skilsaw 553 (date code is on a separate silver decal placed below the nameplate, it reads "WFP1" which means a February 1979 date of manufacturing. These separate decals have disappeared over the years, which makes these hard to decipher unless you have also kept the original box (also unlikely) that the date code is also imprinted on.
